I need a car FAST so I don't think I got the best deal possible. I just bought mine on Dec. 30th. I have a 2001 5-speed w/Comfort and Convienence package(sunroof,17"rims&tires,cargo net, TRICK auto dimming mirror, 8-way power seat), in cabin microfilter, sunroof wind deflector, and floor mats. The price was $24,4778 + tax&license which totaled $27,307.21 out the door. Anyways, I paid about $800-850 too much for my autobroker's fee and I didn't even get the Sterling Mist color I wanted. The only good thing was that I got the thing within 5-days with only 3.9% financing for 60-months. Which is pretty good considering I didn't even start my job till 3-days latter. I only thought people with GOLD credit and who pay it off in 24mo got that low of a rate. Anyways, check out http://www.carwizard.com, http://www.kbb.com, and http://www.edmunds.com for the invoice pricing.
M.A FEE -- DID YOU ALL PAY ONE ???
I paid 27K for my 2001 SE Auto ( incl. Tax-Title )
Its got C & C pkg,splash guards, Cabin microfilter

I paid $22,900 plus tax and title, etc. I have the Comfort and Convenience package (auto dim rearview mirror, 8 way power seat, homelink remote, 17 inch wheels with V rated tires, cargo net, sunroof wind deflector, splash guards, mats). I'm missing the leather/heated seats, BOSE stereo system, and the auto climate control.

I don't know the exact price of the new 2001 SE's, but I did just purchase a 2001 25th Edition. So if I where to make one recommendation it would be to work from a "cost above invoice" perspective. I only paid $1,000 above cost and I think that I found that information on KBB.COM.

I ordered my 2001 SE in October and finally got to pick it up last week. It's a 5 speed with every option: C & C package, meridian, leather, automatic temperature, bose, microfilter, splashguards, and wind deflector. It was $1 over invoice plus tax-tags-title. I paid $28,200 total out the door.
2001 Pearl White Anniversary SE, black perforated leather, meridian package (heated seats and mirrors, active headrests and side impact) sunroof W/deflector, Bose (no changer) that crazy rear view and climate control. Oh and the most important feature...Five Speed! And I added the micro filter myself. $27,385.00

The best money you'll ever spend
Go to Consumer Reports (http://www.consumerreports.org/) and purchase their New Car Price Report on the Maxima. It only costs $12, and it will *easily* save you several hundred dollars, maybe even a thousand or two.

I just picked up my 5-speed 2001 Maxima SE in Sterling Mist with Frost leather, Bose, C&C package, floor mats, micron air filter, and splash guards for $25,800 out the door (I did not pay a destination charge).

Never buy a new car without doing _at least_ the following...
1) Visit Edmunds
You get the invoice price, the MSRP, and the "TMV" (TM).
You get national customer and dealer rebate/incentive info.
You get regional customer and dealer rebate/incentive info.
with that you may find another car that suits you because it costs less than you expect...
2) Visit http://www.fightingchance.com - in case you need additional firepower to duke it out with the dealer. The big things that you can get are financial health of selling company and sales figures for the particular car. Also, if Edmunds has missed some incentive/rebate info (happens often) this site may have it. This service costs money.
3) Visit http://www.carbargains.com - and save yourself some hassle. Even including their fee, you'd be hard pressed to beat some of the prices they can get. Don't bother with places like http://www.autobytel.com
