Got my Eibachs chopped today!
Well, after having the weird Eibach front wheel gap for almost a month now, I decided to have HitmanSE cut a coil off my front springs. The results are EXACTLY what I wanted.
We ended up with both the front and rear fenders (at the center of the wheels) sitting at approximately 26" off the ground. We initially thought it was only going to drop an extra 1/4", but it ended up dropping barely over 1/2".
As far as ride quality goes, it was not compromised in the slightest. Actually, handling seems to be ever so slightly improved, especially in tandem with the RSB. I only got to drive it a couple of miles, but no problems thus far.
I've got all new pics up on my homepage. Check it out! If you sign my guestbook, I'll sign yours.

Actually, I had a jack stand almost cave through the floor in front of the rear driver side seat because I was trying to avoid putting it near the side sill. It took me about 100 good whacks with a hammer to bang it out. Other than that, though, it has been smooth sailing.

Needless to say It was an intersting day. I thought it was gonna drop more then that but it turned out pretty good. Btw im sittin at 25.5" in the front and 25.75" in the rear. Thats about as low as your gonna go without GC's or coilovers.

Heating or cutting a coil spring in order to lower a vehicle is just plain foolish. These procedures are very dangerous and at the very least results in poor handling due to the changing of the original springs characteristic and pre-load. blah, blah, blah....
WELL...ride quality has not been compromised in the least bit. I didnt heat the spring to cut it, therefor I did not weaken it. The handling in Andys own words seems to be slightly better. maybe the overall rate has been changed but the end result is just fine.

Drove to work this morning. Ride quality is a wee bit bouncier, but I think I only noticed it because I am looking for it.
Handling is DEFINITELY improved though. Maybe it is because I was driving the Xterra all day yesterday, but my car is on rails right now.
As far as the Eibach disclaimer goes, that is to cover their own asses in case of a lawsuit. I'm not too worried about it.

To answer all you questions, since im the one who cut them First..
Busakiller: I took 1 coil off from each front and it dropped it about 3/4". I was expecting more but what can I say.
92 SE-R 02 SE: Bro I did tell him to get Teins, he didnt want to. I cant make the decision for him. The cut was his choice, It rides and fits just fine so I guess its ok. Maxspeeds definetly you dont cut, but Eibachs seemed to be alright. Id still rather get another set of springs but whatever.
ClassicDriver: YES!!! He cut them!, well I did. Also yeah mine is still lower by almost 1/2"
BTW this server blows ***!

i too want to rid that gap tooth in the front(f26.5, r25.5), that 1" gap looks so "stock", especially with the 40 series tires, now some Q's....did you chop the top or bottom coil? and now that you have more driving time, how's the ride compared to before? any unexpected difficulties with process? thanks.

I chopped his bottom, or was it his top? **** I 4got which one I sliced No wait...Im pretty sure it was the bottom coil, if I chopped the top it would have sat weird and possibly thrown the camber off. When I drove his car I didnt really feel any change from what it was be4 the chop. Now that its been a few weeks the hits from sudden bumps (this is in andys own words) are alot harder but if it is barable or not is up to the driver. Your gonna have to wait for Andy's response on that.

asu174: Car looks really great. Love the choice of wheels, especially the 18x8.5 If you have any good shots that captures the width of the rims from the rear or whatever, please send them my way. (yes I am obsessed )
