Teins Springs

This is for the ppl who have them... I'm thinking about these springs but i'm worrying about the alignment.. I've heard if you have a huge drop that you need to get Alignment kit... Has anyone had any issue getting an alignment with tein springs??

I have Teins/GR-2 and I do need alignment, but didn't get one yet because I am waiting for my camber plate. I don't think you should worry about anything, I used to have H&R/Tokico and switched to Tein/GR-2 WOW what a difference. Tein gives a nice ride, IMO it's not that stiff.

Did you get the Stillen camber plates? I searched all over and I guess they're the only ones that make them for us. I ended up getting them. Heard mixed responses on whether or not you need them or not, but I figure it's worth it for my peace of mind. By the way, I have the Tein springs and tokico struts ready to be installed soon. Any idea how much shops charge for the install?

just did the install...toks and Teins... great drop... way better than the Eibach drop... and yes i drove a 2k2 with toks and Eibachs, and my ride is better than that setup... go figure...

The ride is just like stock if you had the SE suspension... a bit rocky on bumps, but smooth as silk on the highway.... and I love taking turns now... doesn't have the floaty ride no more...

some say that the KYB GR2 are better??? can't say much about it, don't have any experience with them... i prefer Toks because I have dealt with them in the past, with no problem...

GR2's are stiffer than the Tok's. I had the Eibach/Tok combo on my 2K and the ride was good but prefer the stiffer ride better on my 2K2 which has Maxspeed/GR2's

Yeah, I need to know if I need camber plates for the Tein/GR-2 combo. You shouldn't be getting worried about alignment. My steering wheel is a little off already and I do plan to get it fixed after I installed my springs/struts/shocks.

If you want peace in mind and have an extra $400 or so layin around, Then go 4 it. Is it absolutly necessary, I dont think so. No one has yet to prove this combo causes uneven wear on the tires or pulling to any side. I have had them on for 6 weeks or so and I dont seen anything on the tires yet. I really dont expect to see them but if I do, I will definetly post about it. So far I dont need them.

The 3inch lift kit the car came with does suck! IF you are impatient like i was, goto www.optauto.com I got the Teins for $200 shipped. Not bad for the best springs for the 5th gen besides coilovers!

FYI, just got this email from Tein.

In regards to your question. We do not offer any camber replacement kit for
the Maxima and the springs are made to fit the OEM struts which will not
require camber plates. Feel free to contact any of our sales at the office
for further assistance.
Thank you for your interest in TEIN High Performance Suspension Products.

You'll be VERY satisfied. Eibachs have a $hitty drop, and the tocrops suck! Welcome to a new world of suspension! I just dont get why other .org guys dont get it...

Someone said that the ride with the Tein/GR-2 combo is the same roughness as the SE suspension - just better handling. Is that REALLY true? I want to get this combo but I'm so afraid that the car will be rough and uncomfortable. If I wanted that, I would have gotten a sports car.

Well its stiffer, not bone jarring stiff but its sweet. I can go over potholes (DO NOT ATTEMPT THE 1st WEEK!!! ) w/o any problems. Its rough til it settles in, but after that you'll love the way it rides. No complains here, so yeah its "somewhat" true. More or less depends on what struts you get. Get the GR-2's.

Okay, i'll be a bit honest here, its been about three months since i had the teins and stock strut combo, the ride is bone jarring and if the road is not perfectly flat, then the car does bounce alot almost uncontrolably. I'm not sure why but i thing it might be because it didnt cut the bump stops. i was plannng on getting ht gr2 strust but if they dont improve the ride then i dont know if i should get them?? anyone know how much i have to cut the bump stops on the front and rear?? please help, i hate this ride.

Ok let me point out a few things.
1st The bump stops have absolutly NOTHING to do with how the ride is, they do what the name stats, the absorbe the last bit of impact
left when the spring compresses all the way (rarley ever) I did not cut mine, and the ride is fine. The reason your ride is so horrible is for 1 reason and 1 reason only. YOu didnt do what most all of us did when we got the Teins, we got better sturts. You need to invest in some GR-2's friend. I have the Toks but am sure the GR-2's are easier riding then these. Now I will admint, the 1st week was sheer hell driving around and it was harsh, very harsh! but it eased out after that and is now just fine and doesnt bother me at all. The stock struts do not have enough dampening force to control the Teins, that is why your all over the place. Like I said, get some better struts and then tell me what you think. To sum it up get the bumpstops out of your mind, has nothing to do with it. Get the struts, im 100% sure this is the problem. YES 100% sure.

Good news for me. I bought some Tein springs from ebay the other day and I paid the guy, but he said he wont have any springs until this week. I emailed him a couple of times recently and he said he wont have any in stock until the end of the month. So, he refunded me my money and I'll be purchasing my springs from the upcoming GD "Tein springs for $150 shipped".

I've read about the 1st week thing. Is that 7 days or a weeks worth of driving on them? The reason I ask is I only drive my car on the weekends.

I tend to drive very aggressivly, so I would be willing to give up a *little* comfort. However, I don't ever want a car that rides like my 97 T/A...like it had no shocks at all - ouch.

well guys...I have ground control coilovers and tokico shocks. I am dropped like 2.5+ inches. I got an alignment and my camber is fine even without a camber kit. The tokicos aint that bad and the ride isn't really bad at all. Ask JAY 25, he has ridden in my car before.
albert

PS...look at the sig..you know you want a drop like that..hehe
