*Painting exhaust piping,Need some help...*

My CATTMAN cat-back exhaust system arrived a couple of days ago But before I install it I wanted to paint the exhaust piping since it's aluminized(Only part that is stainless is the resonator and muffler) I don't want it to rust (I live in New England, nuff said) Just wanted to know how ahould I prep the pipe before primering/painting begins??? Is there any specific brand of spray paint I should be using??? I was going to purchase some VHT spray paint,But it's costly and would have to be special ordered via on-line. Any tips/suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in adavnce.

Would "Dupli-Color High Temp Spray Paint" be a wise choice????

You're gonna have to look to see what paint has the highest temperature rating and make your decision based from that. Exhausts get ridiculously hot. Engine paint might work.

I bought some 1500F High Temp Paint at Pep Boys. They had them in Grey and Black. I used this to paint my exhaust. So far so good.

Check that exhaust again. I believe the whole thing is SS, but only the resonator and muffler are polished...

Paint ain't gonna do squat. For any type decent coating will have to be applied. ie.. JET-HOT coatings etc.... ceramic.....

You could try powder coating but I don't know the heat resistance of that stuff.

I believe the max on Powedercoating is somewhere around 500F. Anything more than that is going to break it apart and eventually make it fall apart from peeling.
