i've been seeing the new commercials for the new maxima....
they have done alot of cool stuff to it... but there is some stuff that is wack... for example the turning light replaced the fog lights.. and it makes it look more like a senior car... and the body honestly isnt all that.... they could of done a better job...
but the engine performance ... i got to give it to them... they keep gettin better and better.... overall i give it a 7.. the 5th generation is alot better...

Yeah, I like my 5th generation better. I was just at my nissan dealer the other day and my salesman, said their not selling any 04's because they resemble the altima's to much. Glad i got my 03!

 

The 6th gen looks great from the back and the 3/4-view. The fog lights are still there, but they are now incorporated into the headlight assembly. I love the Skyview window idea.

The only thing I don't like is the front grille and the torque steer. In one of the car magazines, they said this of the '04 Max..."Torque steer, thy name is Maxima."

Overall, I'd give the new Maxima a 9. As for the 5th gen, the old Nissan tagline still goes..."CARS LIKE IT: 0"

 

I got my 03 because I dont like the 04's much at all. Theyre nice, but not compared to the 03 IMO. I dont like the look nearly as much, and I'm not sure about the performance but I think the 03's are quicker and handle better. Just my .02

 

The only thing nice about the '04 Maxima's is that dual exhasut. The 00-03 body style is much nicer!!!

 

I'll tell you one thing, whenever I drive my 04 it grabs alot of attention, I see people pointing and everything at the car, then when I drive my 03 No one looks, I feel ignored I guess they look at my 03 as a honda civic?

 

All I can say is that the 6th gen is wacker than Boy George at a Snoop Dogg concert

 

You would look at the car different if you owned one. Trust me I didnt like the 6th gen too much until I bought one.The interior of the 6th gen makes my interior look like dump.

 

Once again, u'll be eatin them words in about 6months as the lack of quality shows through.....

 

When the 04 are in the lot they look ok, but when I see them rolling on the street I think they look sweet. I think the 04 is better than 03. The center counsole in the rear is SWEEEEET, i would kill for that in mine. The reason the 04 gets so many looks is because its new people aren't familiar with it yet, but they are familiar with the 03. When I bought my 2k in october of 99 the first day I had it and I went cruzing I think the whole city of Denver was looking at my car. It was because it was a brandnew body design, not because everysingle person who looked at it loved it. Not to burst your bubble because I do like the O4. Debate On

i'm sayin the interior is constructed at the same plant, on the same exact assembly line as the new altima which has a VERY subpar interior which can be attested to by many.....

I had the altima and was very unhappy with the quality and workmanship...looks like they spent 20min on building the dashboard...

only time will tell dude....6months on my altima and it fell to ****

 

My fiance had a 02 altima 2.5s w/leather for about 11 months, and she had no problems whatsoever. Car was great. We were gonna keep it but she fell in love with the 04 max.

But remember that our 03's get problems too, Look at our TSB's , and all these strange noises and such that some owners hear. Now im not saying that the 04 is better quality than the 03 but it is more luxury and damn nice to drive.

 

I test drove a 04 max and 03 alti, and I know what your talking about with the alti. The interior felt and sounded like shiznit, that is the reason I dont like them. The 04 max does not feel and sound like the alti. The max seemed alot more solid and sound, but I don't think it matches the 00 and 01 quality. I could be biassed because I drive a 2k. I don't think u should have problems like the alti. I personally see that the quality between the 2 cars is the main diff. Thats my .02

 

the 02-03 Altimas had a TREMENDOUS amount of TSB's....the maximas had very little in comparison....visit www.altimas.net and check out the 3rd gen forum...look at all the problems people are having with them..

Im sure there are TSb's for the car, but in the time that we had the car it didnt give us any problems. I can't say that the car was a P.O.S cause it didnt give us any problems. It was a great car to us.

But on my previous post I wasnt complaining about all the Tsb's on the 03 max, I was just basically stating that all cars have theyre defects. So I wouldnt be surprised if some Tsb's come out for the 04 max. Now a days its normal for cars to have a few defects, what can we do? If a tsb comes out for the 04 max, I'll just take it in to the dealer and have them fix it.

 

I feel you man...i went to the dealers to test drive the 04's ...the interoir is krazy....i mean is just so much nicer compare to my 02's...as for performance...no differences....and i am speechless when it comes to the front grille

 

I dont know if u guys already hear this but FORD JUST BOUGHT NISSAN.
so i'm guessing nissan engines are going downhill from now on.

Unless the test numbers improve drastically on the '04s, '02--'03 6sp owners will have the fastest Maximas(0-60MPH) ever built at least for four years. One more reason I love my '03 6sp.

 

Where did you hear this? There's nothing even mentioning this anywhere that I've looked. Nissan's VQ engine rules, and Ford can only wish it could build such as sweet V6.

 

This came out yesterday on our local news, I couldnt believe it. Thank god I purchased my car before this incident.

 

02/03's look better and were the forbearers of their "upscaling of the Max". They offered memory seats etc,HID's (standard), Nav, trip computer etc. So in alot of cases the 04 isnt any more luxuriuous than the 02/03's are and I feel the 03's interior looks way more luxurious and how a car in this price range should look. To each his own! We get plenty of looks in our 03 Max and in the 350, partly because we both are Very Gdlkg!

 

i like it but only have small gripes about it

1.) looks identical to a Saturn Ion when side by side
2.) when parked and oyu live in a tall building and looking down at it, with the tandard roof , the car looks like a toaster
3.) made in America. POS

I saw a guy I know near my University today and decided to pull over to shoot the ish. He just got an Altima, and I just got a Maxima (both 2K3). So he says, "I think you made a bad decision.." "Why?" I ask.. "Dude.. did you SEE the NEW Maxima?!" he asks, hoping that I figure out why my decision to buy the 2K3 was bad, and see his point clearly. "Yeah, it's a big *** Altima that's not as fun to drive.. in fact, I actually like your car better."

He stopped trying to convince me about anything after that.

 

This is complete , as I have recently looked through the news, and also asked a friend who works for NNA. Nissan is actually debating larger pickups & SUVs just to compete with Ford. Ford has not bought Nissan. If you think this is the case please show us all your proof.

Have you seen the way the Titan and the Armanda look, they both look horrible like big rolling blocks. The US has them beat bad in the Styling department for large SUV's/ trucks.
