Excessive wind noise. . .

I posted this on the audio forum, but didn't get much help. My '03 is less than 6 months old, but ever since day one, I've noticed that I hear a lot of wind noise when I go beyond 75 mph. Is this normal for the 5th gen. or are my seals defective? Can anybody give me a productive input on this?

Yep, theres that TSB for it. If you have a pretty good dealership they'll take care of it for you. Mine won't, they say you'll never be able to get rid of it. I found a dealership that will, but haven't had time to take that long ride yet.

but keep in mind that the TSB helps, but the maxima just naturally has a lot of windnoise. its seals aren't all too great and the glass is thin. i've had the TSB and i caulked my front windows, i've been in many less costly cars that had a quieter ride at highway speeds.

Thanks for the info, guys. Hey, Young04, after you had the TSB, would you say the improvement was significant? Was it worth the trouble?

yeah, it's definitely worth it. i didn't meant to dissuade you from having it done. i was just trying to let you know that the car isn't going to be $30K silent after you have it done. good luck!

I had mine done, but still have windnoise. Not as bad, but not nearly as quiet as my Accord was.

I had a modded '94 Mustang GT that sounded like a freakin' airplane at 140 mph. Man, you couldn't even hear the stereo on full blast at that speed-not that you would want to take your hand off the steering wheel to try to turn up the stereo.

I haven't noticed any unusually obnoxious wind noise in my Max though and I've already had it up to 100 mph a couple times.

Yeah i brought mine to my dealer and they profomed the test for the windnoise tsb and that wasn't my problem. He told me my door alignment was all good and sent me on my way.

My apointment with the dealer happened to be after a rainy day. Needless to say I got nowhere. But you can do it yourself if you look at the pictures from the TSB and use a couple of 2" strips of foam tape.

Dan, actually the dealer did the test to see if that TSB will fix my problem and i didn't stop the noise so the tsb won't work for my wind noise

You can buy the 3m foam tape at home depot or menards and there is a adhesive side to the tape so it will stick on the molding.
