Struts/Shocks/Springs

Is it recommended to changed the springs when buying new struts/shocks or can you run the new shocks/struts with the factory springs. The cost of springs is expensive and sometimes people have to take steps in getting to where they need to get too because of $ issues. Also, because I am not familiar with most of this stuff, I have viewed other threads and there is always talk that when you change your springs, your car is lowered. Just how much lower does it get compared to when you bought the car? I dont really like my car to be a "low rider" per se. I would hate to be one of those cares that have to slow down, almost to a stop, to go over bumps, railraods tracks, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Struts/Shocks/Springs

First, you got it the other way around. It's recommended to buy new struts/shocks when buying lowering springs. Not the other way round. Save your money, when you are ready do it all at once. You'll save labor cost by doing it all at once. Tein S Tech springs, for example, lowers the car by 2.2 inches in the front and 1.6 inches at the back. No, you wont have to slow down like that unless you cut a few coils of your springs. I hope this helps.

I think springs are cheaper than struts/shocks. But if you want to keep stock height, I don't see a need for changing your springs. They are just 'springs', no moving parts on it to go bad.
