Yeah, it should add about 20 hp to your car.

Be more specific.

Do you realize how many filters Autozone sells?

I really doubt there is a filter in the world that will actually give you NOTICEABLE gains, so the answers are "no", "no", and "no" respectively.

So, what's the consensus on the air filter. Buy a cheapo FRAM CA4309 filter for $7 and replace it annually OR buy the K&N for $42-$45 and clean/recharge it annually.
BTW, the AUTOZONE site doesn't show the K&N as available.

heh... uhm I guess you will start to save money if you buy the K&N and keep it for like 7 years but honestly who gives a f***. I personally would just get a decent throw away, rather than risking over oiling the K&N.

yeah a cool cane filter will drop your times from 14.5 to about 13.2 due to the 134HP increase. NO a filter will not improve performance

well the air filter (cone type from auto zone) actually did help out. I have an 02 maxima an automatic and i ran a 14.59 today at the track with a .688 reaction time. Pretty damn good for an auto, and only an air filter.

I saw that one (or one like it) at AutoZone the other day. Did it bolt right on, or did you have to make up some hardware?

hey, it looks like the stillen one just not the chrome piece over the top. It was the universal 3" and i bought the adapter for it there too. They are really hard to come by but u can get them off ebay. I have to drill diff holes in the adapter to make it line up right but everything else just slipped right on. Didn't take too long to install. Just took off the airbox and screwed on the new adapter and slipped the filter on and thats it. Usually an 02 auto runs 15.0 or 15.1 and i ran a 14.59 with my 02 auto. It was my first time at the track too. Didn't do anything else to the car just the filter. It's louder too, i really like the sound it makes now.

I think stock 2002 Auto can run mid to high 14s with practice, but your time is really nice too. I think you should notice gains especially at the top end, and if you add midpipe to that cone filter you will notice even more gains. I definetly felt gains after I installed FrankenCar intake with K&N cone filter and midpipe. Car just flies to redline.
