Max GPS and CD Playback?

I have a 02 max with the navigation system. I have read here before that people are able to play CD's in the NAV unit. I have tried to do that, and when I insert the CD it says "map disc not loaded". I do have a factory CD changer in the trunk, mabye that is why I cannot play CD's?

I have also seen pics here of a nav screen with a blue graphic intro screen that I have never seen on mine.

Any ideas?

Yep.. It will play CD's. You should see a touch screen CD player when you insert a music CD. I too have the stock trunk mounted 6 disc CD changer. Are you using CD-R/RW's or actual retail music CDs in dash Nav unit? Both work for me...but curious.

What shows up on Nav screen the moment you power on car?

Tomcat
Same here. I have the changer in the trunk, and mine works fine...

When I start the car, the nav screen first shows a all black background with the nissan logo in the center of the screen. It then goes to the warning screen where you have to press OK, then to the GPS map.

Mabye I need to take the car in and have the nav unit upgraded?

you have to change the "mode" on your steering wheel controls
so the display in the head unit reads "AUX" (change from FM,C.D,etc,)
than you may have to press the map button on the navigation, and the screen will display the controls for playing your cd. Try that approach, is what I do with mine, also my display comes up blue with the nissan logo when I start up.

Well, I dont see AUX when I cycle through the button on the steering wheel, and I also never see blue with the nissan logo.

I guess there is a ROM or BIOS upgrade they can do at the dealer to upgrade me. I wonder if that will effect the radio unit though?
