Paint Complaint

I have a 2003 GLE Glacier Pearl. I love this car, but I have got to say the paint is crap and has no durability. I have had the car for about 6 weeks and already have at least 5 or 6 very tiny paint chips, no fault of my own. It is driving me crazy. The paint comes off of this car way to easy. For example, I was holding my garbage can cover(very ightweight plastic) an accidently brused along side the car, I barely touched it and the paint came off. I am afraid to think what this car is going to look like after 1 year. Does anyone know if Nissan is doing anything about this or offering any help. I have not contacted my dealer yet, I wanted to hear what you folks suggested first:bawling:

Welcome to 5th gen Max life..... chip, chip, more chips....lol

Personally, I blame the EPA. The toxic paints actually stick to the car!

That would be a good group to blame, if it weren't for the fact the 5th Gen's were made in Japan and outside the reach of the EPA. Now as for the Japanese counterpart...OK.

In any event, one must wonder how environmentally friendly it is to repaint the same cars countless times with 'safer' materials or just paint it once with good (albeit more harmful) paint.

Seems like this could pretty much be a wash in the long run.

Are you sure the plastic garbage can scraped the paint off? I'm betting that it just left a plastic residue on the paint. Try a little Meguiars paint cleaner or clay, I bet the mark comes right off.
