AE Pedals?
AE Pedals?
Hey im looking to buy the Anniversary Edition pedals, saw them on courtesy nissan's website and turns out they're just pedal covers (accept the accelerator) Is that what your AE Maxima's came with? Chrome covers?
Awwww!! How much do you want for a accelerator pedal and auto brake pedal???

Yes, hence the use of the term 'Anniversary Edition pedals'.

Subaru had the decency to use all aluminum pedals on their cars, guess I had my expectations too high for such a simple azz nizzan.

I don't think I like the "simple azz Nissan" remark, homey.

yah yah, if we rate cars based on how fancy their pedals are then a Kia with Momo's would be damn sophisticated

I just did it, it's no big deal really. Just use a 10mm socket to pull off two nuts, pull out the whole assembly, and pop the new one in. It sounds weird but once you pull off the old one you'll see how easy it is. Don't forget to reattach the cable for the throttle, I bet that's important

But you have a 2k1...the process is alot harder for us 2k2-2k3 guys.
Here are the instructions from custommaxima.com....The pedals are a little tricky to install. First remove the original brake pedal by simply prying the rubber off the back with your fingers. Once the stock brake pedal is removed, the fun begins. A little trick is to try soaking the pedal in HOT water for about five minutes to soften up the rubber. Then, get yourself two flat head short stubby screwdrivers that you can use for wedging the rubber on the metal brake plate. Basically, just put the top of the brake pad on the brake plate first then start pulling out and away at the rubber trying to clip it around the back of the metal brake plate. It will take a good five minutes of patience to get it in place unless you are lucky. Once you get it on, the hard part is over.
Now, you must remove the accelerator pedal. To do this you must remove two bolts with a long neck rachet and unplug the electronic throttle plug on the top of the metal bar. After removing this the entire assembly will come out.
**For 2000-2001 Maximas, the accelator assembly simply reinstalls just like the one you removed.
**For 2002-2003 Maximas, you need some small modification. You can not use the new assembly that is provided since it was never intended to be used on a 2002-2003, and because the 2000 and 2001 accelerator doesn't use electonic throttle like the 2002-2003. All you are going to use is the actual metal pedal; that's it. You are going to remove the accelerator pedal from the metal arm assembly and put it on the 2002-2003 metal arm assembly. To do this you must remove a black clamp on the back of the accelerator pedal. Do the same on the stock pedal so that you have it off the assembly arm.
The next tricky part is that the 2002-2003 bars which the accelerator pedal attaches to is slighty thinner than the bar on the assembly you receive. You will have wrap black electrical tape around the bar for approximately two turns to accomodate the size of the opening in the accelator pedal. Once this is done just put the assembly pedal on the metal arm assembly and put it in the car the same way you took it out. Thats it!!
