Dash lighting change

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the color of the lighting of the max at night, and if so how? I'd like to make the lighting brighter kind of like the lexus bright white background. This is the lighting at night and it's just not bright enough sometimes.
http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...184_6_full.jpg

Or at least does anyone know where to start looking into it?

Thank you for the help.

Stupid question, but have you tried turning the dimmer dial all the way? It's pretty bright in mine i actually have to turn it almost the exact opposite way as it's too bright.

That's true.... you can manually adjust the brightness of the dash lights. The switch is to the left of your steering wheel and it's like a volume **** you can turn on a hi-fi system.

I agree...there are many times when the dash just doean't seem bright enough. I have already fiddled with the dash dial to adjust the brightness, but it leaves me lacking at times.

Has anyone pulled the dash apart to find out how it is lit?
I cannot stand the way mine looks at night. It is dull and faded.

and for those that post "use the dial to adjust it", don't you ****ing think we have already tried that

No need to get irritated by it. Sometimes people make obvious mistakes, doesn't hurt to remind them.

I know about the dimmer switch on the left. I just hate the faded look on some numbers, and like it's been mentionned before, our dash is just plain dull and boring. As Lumbee799 mentionned above has anyone removed the dash and happen to see how the dash is lit back there?

Thanx for the help

I was so jealous of my friends VW Jetta when I saw it at night. It was deep purple with red needles. Awesome combo! Too bad the car is a big POS with no power.

Let me know if you get the ***** to take apart your dash, I sure don't want to break mine. I would be happy if I just had blue needles as the rest of my interrior is pretty blue already with my ricey neon

Oh, the Lexus dash (if anything like my chick's RX300) is REALLY bright. Although I think $40,000 is too much for her moon-buggy

maybe it's just me, but after seeing purple dash lights for a while, wouldn't you just get really sick and ****ing tired of it. i mean the car is meant to look classy, the white lighting make it look clean and classy. the purple lights sure look cool, nice, etc..., but after a while, you get sick and tired of them...i had a jetta for a week and although nice, it was annoying me having them so bright and purple in my face.

as far as changing the dash lights, fine fine i'll open it up this weekend and let you know what size bulbs are behind that thing.

Mine doesn't look terrible, it's just annoying sometimes. Also worst, with the sunroof cover open, the slightest amount of light in the car makes it looks not well lit. I don't want to change the dash, just the bulbs.
We would all appreciate that Polo. If you don't mind, can you take pictures as you're removing the dash to get access to the bulbs, so i could use that as reference when changing the lights. I've never removed the dash in this car, it would make life easier. I'll write instruction on how to change the bulbs if i do it. Thank You much for all the help.

Not sure if this matters, but the Infiniti I35 has the bright white lights in the back as well. Since both cars are so similar, i think they're just using a different type of led than in our max. But not sure, just speculating here.

Don't change to colored bulbs, unless you know for a fact that they are brighter. If not, your needles will not illuminate well.

Also the difference between the Infiniti and Maxima guages is that the Infiniti has electroluminescent guages. If you want something bright like that, you would probably need to get either indiglow or reverse indiglow guages.

on Lexus's the needles themselves are a buncha tiny LEDs, but the guage lighting behind them is usually wedge bulbs... the Lexus dealer charges about 5-7 bucks a bulb but I think the only alternative for us is to use aftermarket bulbs in there because the Lexus ones are TOO bright and powerful

white is best screw blue it becomes annoying to look at after awhile... damn VWs

I'm pretty sure it's photoshopped. I think CustomMaxima was talking about producing that kit but not sure if they are.
