PUlled up alongisde a sweet black AMG convertible CLK 430, with the plates SIC BENZ..

He pulls up to the light.. And cuts infront of hte guy in the right lane to line it up..

LIght turns green.. he goes, and i go!!.. THinking i woudl get so smoked, i tried my hardest, shifting the 6 speed with all my might..

Low and behold, I had a half a car lead on him.. but he and I were neither gaining nor pulling..

After hitting 60mph, i slowed, then he slowed with a very respectable THUMBS UP from each other..

Oh well.. I still think maximas SUCK!! LOL

I don't think it was an AMG. If it was it doesn't sound like it has a SC. With no SC it has I think 275HP and being a MB you know it's heavier that the Max. Now if he said it was a CLK55 AMG I'd be

Sorry, but one of three things just happened:

1) He sucks like **** at driving, and hit the worst launch possible,

2) He was only half trying, or

3) He's AMG-badged without any actual mods (the STOCK 430 makes 275 HP - with mods you're seeing tailpipes)

I raced a CLK55 AMG in my altima a while back. I saw him mashing thru traffic. It was a silver and dirty as hell. Well I finally caught and it was at a light. I looked over and it was on.. I kinda messed up on the launch and pulled a 1/2 car length lead on me right away and then continued to pull another car length on me. I kept up kinda. I mean I could still read his license plate....... thumbs up and went on our way

I think they run in the mid 13's...

seen a S600 v12 run a 12.4 @ 113 @ sears point a couple weeks ago too.. 4400lbs hauling
A$$ He had a Renntech chip other then that he was stock down to the tires and baby seat in the back....

I don't want to kill your buzz but there is no way in hell that a Max can hang with a CLK430 AMG. Those bad boys do 0-60 in a hair under 5 seconds with an auto tranny. Either the driver was a complete idiot or you just raced a plain CLK 430.

I dunno why you guys hype up the AMG's sooo much....my a$$hole neighbor has a CLK430 AMG package and I've seen him TRY to fly up the street,now I'm not sure if its the 19" chromes or just the fact of it's weight but it aint fast....his bro's 98 GS400 is faster which aint sayin much either...

I believe you when you said that you took the CLK430.

My father in-law and I would always race each other for fun.

He had a 2002 CLK 430 Coupe and I have a 6speed Max.

I would most of the time beat him by 1 to 1/2 a car lenght.
Unless he gets me at the start, then we would be be even.

He currently traded the benz in for a 2003 CLK55.
No when I try to race him, he would smoke me by 3 to 5 cars.

2002 CLK 430 = 275HP
2003 CLK 55 = 380HP + *** Whooping For My Max
430lbs of torque

I really like his ride, but with a $75,000 sticker price

I would rather use that money on something else.

They come with AMG wheels and that's it I think. No engine add-ons from AMG.

I haven't seen any numbers for a 430 AMG that is SC'd, don't even know if they do it, but the C32 AMG has 340HP and as stated right below your post the E55 has 380HP with a whole bunch of whoop a$$ TQ. You spend plenty of cake for either one though.

There's no such thing as a AMG CLK 430. All AMG models end in 55... Like SL55, CLK55, etc. He might of put the badge on but that's not a real AMG!

AMG is just badgin and rims on the Clk 430, but there are tons of them out there. clk55 has an amg package too,but it goes int more detail like an upgraded engine and such

you can get E class as an AMG without getting the e55

you can get the s-class as an AMG without getting the s55

Yep you're both right. The CLK 430 AMG means that all it has is the "AMG" package. The only thing different about the CLK 430 and the E430 is the transmission. The CLK is more sport tuned. As for the CLK55 AMG, it's a beast. That's all I can say. My dad has one. It's got around 362 horsepower compared to the 275 in the 4.30, so the CLK55 wins hands down.
Also, just some food for thought: The "NEW" cl55, has 493 horsepower (somewhere around there) with 516 lb-feet of torque. Never really seen one on the road yet (new one that is) but with that much power and torque...I think it can kill any souped up maxima. lol. Even though I own a max.

All AMG cars end with 55. CLK55,E55,ML55,S55 and so on!

A lot of the stock CLK 430's came with AMG wheels. If you did see a CLK 430 supporting an AMG badging, than the owner just put on that sticker for show.

The new bad boy in town, if anyone is lucky enough to see it.
Is the 2003 E55

The E55 has the same engine as the 2003CLK 55 V8(380HP).

All they did was add a S/C to it = 498HP & 514lbs of torque

It is currently the fastest 4 door car and mercedes out on the market.

Running stock = 12.3 quater mile.

Trust me, I have been reading up on this car from Road and Track to Car and Driver.

With a sticker kicking between $80,000 and up.

I stand corrected. MB offers "AMG Style" options on their cars that give different cosmetic options like bigger AMG wheels or a different exhaust tip. It's still misleading to say that he was racing a AMG when it was just "AMG Styled"

screw the MB website...i have some real experience in that my parents have a Mercedes and my friends's have MErcedes's and guess what i was actually at the dealer with them when car shopping.

like i said you can get an AMG APPEARANCE Package with all those cars, they put on AMG Badging they put on the rims, exhuast tips, floor mats, and door handles all made by AMG and have special AMG badgin on them in the back of the car it says clk430 AMG e430 AMG s500 AMG these are the specific cars which i personally helped buy.

so lets break it down...you can get an AMG APPEARANCE package with most NEw Mercedes models, or you can get a PREMIUM AMG MODEL which is also denoted by different leeter and numbering such as sl55 AMG, s55 AMG, cl55 AMG, ml55 AMG and so on

i do not know the exact differences in the AMG Performance models versus the standard models other thne engine size, becuase i was never interested in one so cant tell you anything about that.

no my parents and friends are what i call smart consumers

the amg packages are not that much more ( i believe something like 3 grand) but you get very nice rims and nice and high performance tires and a couple of appearance items which resemble the AMG performance cars. The regular v8 benzes are fast and powerful enough, and there is no reason to pay an extra 20 grand for the same car with a little more horsepower and an unreliable supercharger

LOL "Jeepik" YOU ARE SOOO FUNNY!!! You go drive an CLK55 amg and go drive a CLK430 and you go tell me which one is better. Just wondering what car do you drive? I've driven my dad's clk55 and it can match a vette and smoke a boxster. The funnier thing is that the CLK is an AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.
I sure don't know how many horsepower your car has...but 80 horsepower is a lot to me...I don't call that little. My point to you is that for regular Mercedes cars, I.e. C240, 320, E320, ML320, etc, the "AMG", the option is only for the wheel and rims. Don't believe me? I invite you to any mercedes dealer and go look at an E430, CLK430, S500, ML430 that says "AMG" on it, and then go look at an E430, CLK430, S500, ML430 that doesn't have "AMG" I will promise you that the only different about the cars are the wheel and rims. For your knowledge, any Mercedes "AMG" car has a hand built engine. I would know because my dad took the European delivery and I was able to see them hand build the freakin engine. Non-AMG Mercedes has an option called the "Sport" package.
Don't start an argument if you don't have enough knowledge about the things you are talking about. If you live in the Atlanta area, I will personally give you a tour of the Atlanta Mercedes dealership (RBM of Atlanta or Atlanta Classic Cars, whatever one) if you would like.

the amg package is alot different than an amg mercedes. you can get the amg rims and body kit as a factory option. so lets say you do this to an s500, its still called an s500, not an amg500.

Mercedes C320 = 215 hp ; Mercedes C32 AMG = 349 hp
Mercedes E500 = 302 hp ; Mercedes E55 AMG = 469 hp

The AMG models do not have just a little more horsepower than the regular models; they have a ton more power. Additionally, there is nothing unreliable about these supercharged motors. They are likely as reliable as the VQ.

In the last two weeks, I have run into two new SL55's that wanted to play up here in Toronto. Those things are lightning fast!

Other than the SL55, E55, CLK55, S55, CL55, ML55, C32 and SLK32, any other model with an AMG badge is likely a sport model of a regular Mercedes model (without major engine mods).

Yeah, a very good friend of mine's father just got one, its really quite amazing. The interior is one of the nicest I have ever seen. He's a pretty cool guy, got hardwired radar detector/scrambler installed in the front and back of the car. He mentioned that stock the supercharger runs at around 20,000 rpm, seems like there is definatly some room to go with a smaller pulley.

as far as paying 20 grand for 80 horsepower, well those cars are for enthusiasts, and superstars. niether of which are my friends and my parents hence the reason for a regular Mercedes with an apearance package AMG not a clk55.

i never said the clk55 is not better then a clk430, i simply said i dont know what differences there are, i only spoke of what and what i personally helped buy. All three cars were purchased with an AMG appearance package which included the AMG rims(there was a choice of two AMG rims to choose from) amg engraved exhuast tips, chrome door handles AMG floor mats, and AMG badging on the trunk of the cars.

Actually, according to Mercedes Mommentum Magazine (and I am reading the cover), it says STAMPEDE We turn the 2003 E55 AMG's 469 Horses Loose....

That is according to Mercedes anyhow.
