At the risk of sounding like a dealer...it's pretty normal for the Max.

Yes, it sucks.

Re: does your A/C suck?

If its extremely hot/humid (Florida is a good example), You have to get the car moving to like 40-50mph for 2 min or so. Then it will begin to cool down. This was more necessary on my 2k1 SE than my 2k3.

Is your car soaking in the heat all day long? My Max has been through some serious Texas heat and it's just fine and dandy - as long as i don't let it soak in the heat all day long.

Otherwise it takes a while for the A/C to bring the temps down to the preferred levels.

Help it out during these times by cracking open the windows, the A/C works a lot better if you let the hot air out of the cabin first.

As soundmike says, make sure you open the windows to vent some of the hot air if the car's been in the sun. And, I learned a trick from my wife's Millenia. Her car has auto climate, and if the temp is above about 90 degrees outside, the auto setting always switches to recirculated air. Previously I rarely used that setting, but if you think about it, if you always use fresh air the A/C is constantly trying to cool 90+ (or in your case, 105) degree air. With recirc, it has a head start on cooling.

Since starting this, I usually have to turn my A/C down because it gets too cold (of course, Houston summer hasn't really started yet... )

Both my AC and heat suck in my car. In my moms 02 Pathfinder though, the heat and AC blow nice and strong.....

I've had the "priviledge" of having mine go through last years summer and it's no biggie for the Max. Just about the only thing i have to complain about, AC-Wise, is not being able to tint the front windows.

Even though i have cold air blowing (And freezing my hand on the wheel) - it would be nice not to have the sun's heat beam down on me too much (especially if i wear dark clothes). Feels weird to be hot and cold at the same time.

everytime I walk to my car I let the windows all the way down...turn it on for a bou 2-3 min and then start driving..the hot air is usually out by then and then I turn the a/c on..I let it run and it just doesnt get so cold even after 10 min

I think I will tint the front window 50%

CBass69187, lol is actually did get that hot...It was actualyl WAY hotter, the gauge just couldnt read it..Its right after I got it filled..
Ill be freezing it from now on...

Remember guys with that R134 freon that their using now, it just doesn't have the cooling capacity that the older R12 systems had. Any car that I have been in with the r134 just does not cool down the same as older vehicles with r12

It does take a good while to cool down if you have black/grey lustre or maroon with black interior, but with recycirculation on it get's extremely cold. This has been the best air conditioner since the R12 days. I am extremely surprised since I have a UDP.

Do You have climate control? If so, there is a procedure to play with the computer to run within a 5 degree difference of the factory default, either warmer or cooler. Don't remember what thread it's in, sorry. you could always donate and search. Peace...

Around town my A/C doesn't seem to get very cold. A few minutes on the highway and it turns icy. The dealer says it's "normal."

My a/c works great.. very cold. I wished i have gotten the climate control though because i keep turning the a/c on and off because it gets too freakin cold, especially at night.

I think it has something to do with the color of your car. I have an icelandic pearl and my a/s is always cold. My friends all have black cars and their a/c is always struggling. i think the lighter the color of your car, the faster and colder the a/c works. simple physics, black cars absorb all the heat and gets hotter faster then lighter cars.

My a/c SEEMS adequate....I wouldnt know considering the **** A$$ WEATHER THAT WE'RE HAVING IN NY!!!!!!!!!...

I think my 2k2 ac works great. In Florida with black leather too.

In fact I think it works too good somethimes. I have the auto climate control and when the car gets heat soaked I think the sensor for it must touch the plastic because after 1-20 min driveing I'm getting frozen out because it won't slow down much. In fact I have to turn it up until I feel the heat start before the fan will ever go to floor/dash vents.

I was in Palm Springs over the weekend and it was 100 degrees during the day there. I have a silver car with grey interior and the rear windows are tinted one shade lighter than limo tint (which helps quite a bit). I leave the sunroof shade closed in the hot sun, run the A/C on max and it cools down the car fairly well.

Damn, I saw two brand new Maserati convertibles and a BMW Z8 in one day there. Playground for the rich and shameless-wish I was one of them.

hmm..well it gets kinda cold....when I put my hand next to the vents, its really nice..the problem is the heat from the windshield and dash heats up the air byt he time it gets to me..

Thats why you lucky folks with the lighter cars get better cooling. I am never buying a black car again

When you say recirculation mode...does that mean that all 3 green lights will be on, on the regular a/c ? The Position, the Circulation, and the A/C ? Thats the way I have it set..

THanks

I have a Maj Blue Max... and like you it's the heat coming from the windshield that bugs me.

Other than that, just be glad you don't have the dinky excuse for an A/C on a Civic <g>
