Dropping a new engine in on my 2k1 5spd.

Question: will a used engine from a 2k-2k1 auto work? Infiniti or Max?

Is a compression of 225 good?

 

it is more important that the compression number for each cylinder is the same than the actual number. Engine should fit since people have done a auto/manual swap but don't quote me.

 

What is a very good compression per cylinder? I have a lead on one now and being told it is 225 compression? (if that makes sense)

 

ask for the compression for EACH cylinder. the number doesnt matter, what matters if all the numbers are close to each other

for example if 5 cylinders are 225 and one is 100, you have a bad cylinder. if all are between 180 and 190 the engine is good.

If all are around 225 the compression is good, but if they say all are exactly 225 that sounds a little funny as there is usually some variation.
