Anyone Buy The Maxima SE Emblem From Custom Maxima?

Hi, Everyone.

A few years ago, my '01 was rear-ended in a chain accident and the shop that initially fixed things up misaligned the 'SE' emblem. The guy put it more toward the right of the trunk lid instead of centering it between the right edge and the keylock. It's always bugged me, but I never did anything about it since a new emblem from Nissan would cost about $30 which is nuts for what is really just a piece of plastic.

Custom Maxima is selling the emblem for $14 and in the description it says it has a chrome finish and is for 2000+. To my knowledge, only the '02/'03 SE emblem had a chrome finish. The '00/'01 SE emblem had a black finish to it, and only the '00/'01 GLE emblem was chrome. The picture they use looks to be for '00/'01, but I can't be sure.

Has anyone purchased this emblem from Custom Maxima? If so, can you tell me if it is chrome or black?

Thanks in advance. Peace.

I thought only the AE had the black finish.

Couldn't you just remove your badge with a heat gun and reapply it?

I don't have access to a heat gun. But wouldn't removing the emblem I have now affect the adhesiveness if I tried to reuse it?

no... just buy some new double-sided 3M tape at any hardware store...

A cheapo heat gun at Home Depot or somewhere like that is around $10-$15, probably less than what you would pay for the new emblem. You can use a blow dryer too, it just takes a little longer. Then I would either use double sided tape like 255HP_03_SE said or some automotive adhesive that won't damage the paint. I'm sure someone at the ORG knows a glue that is safe to use on paint for things like this.

how else were you going to remove the old emblem anyway?? even if you forego the heat gun and just pry it off, you can still reuse it with new tape.

You do know that most heat guns can light paper on fire (451 Deg F). Imagine what that does to your paint...not smart.
