Those who change 2k2 sparkplugs!!!
Those who change 2k2 sparkplugs!!!
I can't seem to do a search....
actually, my search function ain't working for some reason, is this normal?
Anyways...back to the problem. I wanted to change sparkplugs on my 2k2. the local autoshop said they needed to take the intake manifold out for the back two plugs so they need gaskets. I told my nissan dealer the situation and they were like 'wtf? u don't need to change them until 100,000 kms, and we never changed one yet!', so they have no gaskets for that kinda operations in stock. In the end, they order a gasket, but the autoshop said its the wrong gasket.
So...is changing the plugs really that difficult?? And can anyone tell me what exactly do I need to get it done???
Thanks in Advance

Re: Those who change 2k2 sparkplugs!!!
Here is the information on changing spark plugs from the 2002 Maxima Electronic Service Manual:
---
Tool(s):
- 16 mm spark plug wrench with a magnet to hold the spark plug.
1. Remove intake manifold upper and lower, collectors.
2. Disconnect ignition coil harness connectors.
3. Loosen ignition coil fixing bolts and pull out coil from rocker cover.
4. Remove spark plugs with suitable spark plug wrench.
Spark plug (Platinum-tipped type):
Make - NGK
Standard type - PLFR5A-11
Hot type - PLFR4A-11
Cold type - PLFR6A-11
Use standard type spark plug for normal condition.
The hot type spark plug is suitable when fouling may occur with the standard type spark plug such as:
- frequent engine starts
- low ambient temperatures
The cold type spark plug is suitable when spark knock may occur with the standard type spark plug such as:
- extended highway driving
- frequent high engine revolution
Gap (Nominal): 1.1 mm (0.043 in)
20 - 29 N·m (2.0 - 3.0 kg-m, 14 - 22 ft-lb)
Do not use a wire brush for cleaning.
If plug tip is covered with carbon, spark plug cleaner may be used.
- Cleaner air pressure: Less than 588 kPa (6 kg/cm2, 85 psi)
- Cleaning time: Less than 20 seconds
Checking and adjusting plug gap is not required.
---
Hope it helps. Peace.

thanks for the info, especially 01SE02SER...
so if u are removing the intake manifolds, u DO need a new gasket when putting it back right?
