Quick question . . . . .

Hey guys, I haven't ever seen anything about this question, and I looked back 17 pages into it.

I was wondering when the 'gas light' comes on.. I'm assuming 2 gallons? I don't have a service manual (dealer said theyd get me one 2 months ago).

Thanks in advance guys

I'm not sure it's in the book.
It usually comes on when it shows about 1/8th of tank left. I've tested a month after I got the car. I was driving with the gauge showing 0 and then going even all the way down below zero, to the point where it can't physically go any lower. Then I decided to fill up. I pump'ed in about 17galons, so according to the tank capacity, I had ~1.5 gallons of gas left with the gauge all the way on the bottom.

it's not in the book... this is what the book says...

The low fuel warning light comes on when
the fuel tank is getting low. Refuel as soon
as it is convenient, preferably before the
gauge reaches E. There will be a small
reserve of fuel in the tank when the fuel
gauge needle reaches E.

we've talked about this a few times in the past.

for the most part people said their light comes on with about 3.5-4 gallons left.

if you want to see the threads from the past try searching for "gallons" and put "newman" in the box on the right so it searches through my posts.

For those that have run it down until the light comes on, what does the trip computer say is the "distance to empty" miles? Does it say zero?
