Taking my Max in Monday to have front bumper and hood re-painted

I'm sick and tired of seeing new chips everyday. A friend of mine is going to paint the hood and front bumper this Monday. I will post before and after pics.

you might want to ask them to blend the clearcoat from the hood into the fender as well....

Yeah

I want to get this done sometime whenever I have the money. How much is he going to paint it for?

My hood and bumper are horrible and to make matters worse, a pick fence fell on the front of my car when I was parked at a bar a few weeks ago. It's not too noticeable, just some light scratches on the bumper and a very minor dent on the hood. You can't see it unless you're up close and the lighting is right.

You might want the front fenders done as well. Those get some chips too.

No kidding - I'm taking MY car in Monday to have the hood and bumper repainted. I'm a little concerned about matching paint, but they've done good work before so shouldn't be a big deal. Then it's clear bra time!

I talked to the shop about putting on extra layers of clearcoat to try and avoid chips in the future, but the manager said it won't help. Any thoughts on this? You'd assume thicker paint means more chip-resistant...?

I was thinking of doing the same, but I know a thing or two about reselling the car from prior experiences...

If you repaint a vehicle, no matter what portion, it will depreciate the car more than if you leave the chips... i know there is alot, but just touch them up, don't paint the whole thing over if you plan on selling the vehicle later down the road...

An appraiser will notice that the car or portion of the car was repainted and they will deduct on the appraisal, but if you leave the chips, they will mark it down as WEar and Tear...

zero, zilch, nada. He is a friend of mine that works with Infiniti Motorsports on the weekend and owns a body shop down in San Diego. He does business with my Mom's sign business so he said he'll hook me up

Lucky you. Wish I had connections.

I thought about that too. Don't think it'll be a big deal though; with a dealer invoice stating that the car was repainted for rock chips not an accident (and the dealer will have it in THEIR records), I'm happy to argue my case with the appraiser. Presumably the appraisal concern is "it's been repainted, so it must have been wrecked", not "hey, this isn't factory paint!".

I had my bumper repainted, and the new paint is much better than the crap Nissan sprayed on it originally. It has very minimal paint chips on it after 20k miles...

I'm thinking of having the bumper repainted when I get the aero kit painted.

I might do the hood depending on the cost.
