no, you will not feel any difference and synth oil may only slightly increase mpg.

go synth for the added protection or extended drain intervals. Otherwise stay with cheaper dino oil

49122 miles and u still haven't had an oil change???... yeah, i'd say you're just a TAD bit past due
you might wanna take it in for one pretty soon......

i put mobil1 synth in my car... and it seemed to run a bit smoother... might all just be in my head tho.... i'm pretty sure that it won't make it any quicker tho

happened to my friend's leased LS400...he never had an oil change on it for 40,000....everytime when he saw the oil light...he just add more oil into the engine....whatever oil he can get from a gas station.

same filter since day 1.

you want clean oil in your engine. i for example had my last oil change done at 59250, next one was suppose to be at 63,000...i am already at 65500 and still didnt get it done because i just cant find the time. i always do it at the Nissan dealer, but i show up there, and they tell me its 1.5 hour wait or we cant do it today. and that pis$es me off soo much.

is there maybe a different place i can do it, but some place that i will be sure 100% they'll make it right?

if you are definitely not going to do it yourself, go to any of the oil change places... there are 4 or 5 shops on the strip near my house that all advertise "10 minute oil change".

Watch them (and make sure they know you're watching) and check the oil level when you pull out of the bay -- actually open the hood, ask the guy for a rag, and check the oil level right in front of him. If he gives you a hard time tell him it's to protect you both and he'll understand.

If you want something special for oil (synth, or an odd weight) bring it and see if they'll give you a discount because they're using your oil.

BZZZZZZZT!

Sorry... you won't notice a difference, because your car won't run smoother on synthetic oil.

Gas mileage won't go up either...

Thank you for playing!

Do you have a link to the full scale oil analysis/vehicle/oil history breakdown as well as the MPG before and after that illustrates this? Because I know you wouldn't pull such a statement out of your a$$.

ADTHANKSVANCE!

Do you have proof otherwise? Because I know you wouldn't make that request unless you already had your argument lined up.

And if you answer is "it's in the spreadsheet" then how about you break it down for those of us who don't have Excel and can't see your work.

I don't have proof otherwise, I am merely seeking a link to evidence that supports what was stated by 255HP_03_SE with such absolute certainty. I am most interested in seeing a study of that nature.

I had a friend in high school who would take the money her mom gave her to get an oil change and used it to buy beer. Well she didn't have trouble with the car for the first two years, but...well yets just say something had to finally give. And when it did, there were many tech's at the shop laughing at what they saw. The car never rode again.

I agree, don't buy used - god only knows what's been done or hasn't been done to the car.

Let's take a quick peak at the 1990 BMW 325 I bought a few months ago. EPA highway mileage for this car is 23 mpg. I use synthetic oil in the motor, transmission and differential. Consistently this car returns 26 mpg at a steady 80mph on the highway. Considering the car has 137k on it and is 13 years old, I don't consider that too bad.

Though I do admit the mileage plummets to 8 mpg on occasion, but only when I'm on the track
