Maxima's ARE for old people
I got out of my car on my way back into work and I was stopped by a 60's + older lady who asked "what kind of car is that? Its pretty, I like the hub caps did it come with them?" All I could do was pick my jaw off hte floor (HUBBIES! Those are 18's sweetheart) and say "Thank You very much its a nissan maxima," then scurry off.

the wife was happy it had 4 doors, parents were happy because it's safe (to them ---> new + ABS + airbags = safe), friends picked on me something fierce until I destroyed my friend's RX-7 in a 0-85 run. This is the 2nd most fun car I've owned and it's all because of the engine

I live in Utah and I have noticed over a hundred max's. About half of them are people over 40... and only 4-5 of those hundred I have seen with aftermarket rims as a minimum... This is mormon country though, I guess they don't "believe" in fixing there car up?

here in upstate ny, lots of the mid forty and up crowd. i will say not one of my friends makes fun of my max! they all sweat it, but thats cool. i have had a few older people come over and ask me about the car and how big my wheels are! one old lady and one old guy (prolly in their 70s!) the cool thing is that we all like cars...i ran into a guy the other day that drives a grey luster se and has 18s on it and is getting 20's...he's FIFTY! i thought that was mad cool. just when i think that gettin old means less mods and less interest in cars and more on family, i run into someone like this! i love my car no matter what people stereotype it as.

I always get called old man because of the car i chose..
I am 25 now, and the first car i chose was the maxima, despite everybody asking me WHY?
SIMPLE ANSWER TO THIS:
1. I like four doors
2. VQ35DE 255hp and a 6 speed who could ask for more
3. Stock 1/4 miles in the low 14's
4. Has a bit of luxury to it so it isn't a total rice rocket
5. Its unique
6. HID's
7. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the price.. for what you get, there is absolutely no car that can compare!!

Cars (with rare exception) are NEVER investments. Investments by definition are those items from which you expect a return on your money...sure doesn't sound like a Max to me.

Not necessarily, you can invest in a company that you know your not gonna make money on, also an investment is something u put a lot of money in to and when U invest in a MAX your getting your montys worth and some, so you are getting a "return" in money because they hardly break down so u care actually saving money from this "Investment" or take your max to the tracs and lay a few bets down

Hmmm in most circumstances, cars are not investments,
but i guess in rare cases, they can be, if your a commissioned salesperson that uses your vehicle to represent an image which inturn assists in making sales, i.e. Real Estate agents..
Example: Would you buy a home from an agent driving around a dodge neon or a BMW 540? Then you could say your money spent on your vehicle created a return on investment ..
Any other cases? Cars are the worst investment ever..

Hey, guys -specially 01maxSE- I happen to
be fifty...yeah, no typo, that's five-zero- and I drive a Maxima. Black. Stick. Lowered. With Pilots, Eibachs, Tokicos and way friggin' tight brakes. And I drive it hard -sometimes. So there!

ever seen a young hot chick driving a Maxima?
most of them are moms with baby seat in the back.... try to imagine that all of them come to .org and ask questions like "my new baby seat will not fit, help!"

Re: Maxima's ARE for old people
All the 'flagship' Japanese sedans are marketed toward 35-and-up-year-olds. To the companies, that age group has matured enough to have families and money, and their taste in cars have changed from compact to mid-size to full-size. The average age of Accord buyers is 50, believe it or not, so I'm sure the average age of Camry, Altima, and Maxima owners is about the same.
But just because these cars were meant for a certain segment doesn't mean their appeal is only limited to that age group. That shows with the age range of the Maxima owners on this site.

However, it does bother me when I see old chicks driving a Max. I wish that the SE had a better engine so at least it could be set apart from the GXE and GLE. For example, you see many people driving mustangs, but the GT is usually younger guys looking for power and a race
I love this car, but every time I see an old person driving it I think I made a mistake.

Turn up your hearing aid, you old coot!
(and turn off that turn signal- it's been on for at least the last ten miles or so!)

No...she definitely said Stogie, as in "only old men who smoke cigars drive Maxima's". Got a light for my Macanudo??
Hey, didn't anyone tell you to show respect for your elders!! lol

All you young punks out there sure practice age discrimination.
Use to be I couldn't spell "old people" and now I are one, 61, and my modded 02 SE Max could kick *** if I wanted it too. And I have a young dude to thank for me getting it and helping getting it modded. I drove his 01 Aniv SE modded to the hilt for autoxing and wanted one imediately and within a month had one and within the next couple weeks got kyb agxs, hr lowering springs, rear sway bar, UDP and fstb all installed by my younger buddy. So from my perspective I can truely say yes, Maximas ARE for old people.
