Front STB
Front STB
Hello everyone,
I've just installed a front STB on my new 03 Maxima.
Now being all that mechanically inclined i have a couple of questions:
I've torqued the strut tower nuts to 30lbs. Does that sound right ?
And how snug should the bar be in between the clamps ? Should i be able to move it a bit or should it be nice and snug/tight?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Bob

I have my FSTB for some time now and haven't installed it just yet. Although I have been reading lots of threads about this...
1) yes, 30lbs sounds right, although I think its 33, but as long as they are snug. Too tight and you might bust something off.
2) I belive the bar should NOT move at all. Its supposed to be firm but not loose at all. If its loose, I suggest that you should tighten the end bolts on it. Remember when the car turns, that bar keeps the body from swaying (correct me if I'm wrong fellow Max bruthas!)

Re: Front STB
The 2002 Maxima Electronic Service Manual recommends that the nuts be torqued between 32 and 38 ft-lbs.
The FSTB itself should not move. It needs to be rigid.
Now get the RSB, if you haven't alreay done so, and enjoy.
