I recently purchased a kenwood KSC-WA801 powered subwoofer for my 2002 Maxima SE from a friend and did not get any of the wires for it. I called circuit city and bestbuy and they told me I needed a wire harness or they won't touch it. What in the world is that why do I need it, and where can I get one.
Also if I can install this myself could someone tell me how. Thanks.

if it's powered and non-bose, you should be able to tap off the rear speakers....I'd take it to a real shop, not CC or BB

 

Someone told me that if I tap into rear speaker, sound may be distorted without an amp. It has an amp built in, so will this be a problem or will it be okay. Also said I run the risk of shortening out my entire electrical system. Whats up with that? Also I have the wire harness.

 

if the sub is powered, that means it's got an internal amp already built-in....u can tap away!
