Cat-Back Exhaust

I bet this has been asked more than a few times, but search doesn't work, plus this will be a good thread for others wondering about this.

Basically I want to know which cat-back is the best, considering sound and performance. I want throaty acceleration sound, with least amount of drone possible at cruising speeds. Thanks in advance!!

BTW...is Random Tech cat worth the money?

For a 2k3, you're pretty much stuck with Greddy.

Get the Greddy Catback/Exhaust.. Hardly any drone when cruising highway speeds.

Anybody dyno'd the change? Does the 5whp increase still hold true for the full cat-back?

I just bought an OBX full Cat-back for $202 on Ebay. Full stainless looks just like the Greddy. I have not had a chance to install it yet, but it is 2.5 in all the way back, pretty standard for cat-backs. Honestly I don't think the catbacks are going to make the numbers look good until you get good headers/Ypipe put in to allow the flow.

i have the cattman cat back for my 2k2. the loudest is 2-2.5k rpm. after that the sound starts fading. im assuming the greddy will be a LOT louder than cattman, but i can't say because i don't have one. but what my cousin said when we raced, i was ahead of him and he said it is loud at WOT. but has a throaty tone to it. not those ricey exhaust. oh yea he said it sounded like the 350z exhaust.

and someone mentioned about a 5 fwhp increase? i really doubt that because 2k2 and 2k3's has a pretty good exhuast system. i have an intake and catback and got 206 fwhp and 214 tq. i was assuming that the frankencar intake gives you 10 fwhp so if subtracted, i get around 196 fwhp. that seems about right for a 2k2 auto. these are NOT facts. only from personal experience and my perspective.

btw, random cat gives you 0 fwhp.

i guess what i'm really interested in is whether the drone is annoying or not, and if it's loud as hell?

The drone doesn't bother me any more. I play my stereo louder than the drone is, so it isnt a big deal for me anyways...
