What could I get for my Max
I am selling my 2000 GLE and was wondering how much I could get for it.
Fully loaded.
57,000 miles
KBB has it at $13,765.
But I want to ask more because it has tint, brand new tires, transmission, belts, and power steering pump.
Could I get $15,000??

Quite frankly, when cars are appraised for resale, tint doesn't matter for squat, unless bad and needs redone, then you take a hit. Tires are expected to have decent tread left, and the rest is expected to be in working condition. You will NEVER get dollar for dollar out of the car what you put in for the items listed.

options mean absolutely dik on a trade in...BUT on the flip side, if you were to purchase a car new, they rape you on the options...go fukin figure..
Actually, I would be hesistant to buy a car that had to get a new transmission at 50k miles.. (I would think it was ragged out) And like everyone has been saying, Tint doesn't mean anything. And new Tires only make the car more attractive to the buyer. The KBB assumes the tires are in good condition. If you spend $5000 on options (sunroof, Bose, etc) when you buy the car, you might be lucky to get an extra $1000 for it when you sell it after a couple of years due to those options. Sad but true

tranny was messed up when i got it. the owner before me did something to it.
i understand what you all are saying "it is supposed to have a tranny and tires so you cant charge more for it". but if i was buying i car i would spend more knowing alot of stuff had already been fixed. i would spend more on a car with a new tranny and power steering pump then a car that still had good condition original ones. cause i know at least those things wont have to be replaced.

I was paying list for the G coupe like everyone else, but I got nearly 16K for my 2000 GLE with 43K!!! That was their way of negotiating.. Would have sucked to have cash on that deal, they are still doing staight list because they are all still order only. I just lucked out on a special allocation. I think bigger cities have coupes in stock tho.. but not many...
You are looking at it the wrong way.. Theoretically, If KBB has it at $13,765, then it's worth $13,765 with good tires, transmission, etc. If it had bad tires or transmission, then you would ask less.... But realistically, KBB is dealer-biased in that it lowballs car values. I would ask $15-$16k to start and go from there, but be willing to be patient. The best market price for your car is ultimately whatever you get someone to pay you for it and I think that is more than 13k. But just realize that there are desperate people out there willing to unload theirs for $13k to avoid getting $9k from the dealer on trade in.
As an aside, The major price variations in a used car is the mileage.
Sorry for the ramble.

The new transmission would turn me off as a buyer because I'd wonder what happened to the car (how was it driven?) to make the tranny die so early. I'd also question how well the repair was done as well. Why risk a car with a rebuilt/replaced tranny vs a stock car that is still running fine with the tranny from the factory?
Edmund's price for a private party sale 2000 GLE is about $14,000.

If your not in a big hurry to sell it, then someone MIGHT. I bought my 2002 with 17,000 miles from the dealer for 18k a couple months back.

15k or maybe 16k is much more reasonable
