Anyone know the widest tire size that will fit on a stock height car with the stock 17" rims without scraping on sharp turns or hard bumps?

u can go wide

but not bigger. it's usually not a good thing to do. or so i was told. good to have fat side walls but will make rims look smaller and mess up the speedometer. gonna get bad readings.

My understanding is U can go with 235/45/17 on the factory.. they are 17x7 so U might have to find a tire that would fit 17x7 with 235... Not all 235 tires are the same.. some companies measure their tires different. I think Toyo Proxex might fit. Saw some guy with NITTO 555z on the 235/45 on maxima 17x7..

If I go with 235/45R17 that will make the speedometer 2% too fast, and therefore it will make the odometer turn too fast.

How much does it cost to get a speedo recalibrated? Where would one get that done?

No sir 235/45 won't make your speedo go off. factory is 225/50.. 235/45 would be wider but shorter so it would even out.. trust me.. 235/45 is the normal size for maxima on OEM 17' wheels.

Haha. This is funny. The ONLY tire that Discount Tire Online listed in 225/50R17 is the Nitto 450 Extreme. TireRack only shows Bridgestone and Michelin. I was thinking more like Pirelli's or BFG's or Yokohama's.

If I do switch to 235/45R17 there seems to be a LOT more selection.

It's not time for me to get new tires yet. I was just curious about what will fit.
