The new guy has a couple of questions regarding the a/c and key fob.
Last night I bought a 02 Maxima SE Pearl white, all the options (minus leather). I love this car, but the dealership service was marginal. Anyways I was playing with all the buttons last night and realized I can't turn the a/c off. If it is blowing air the a/c button is lit up, I push it to turn it off but I get nothing. That's not normal, right? Also in regards to the keyfob, how the hell do I get one? I asked about 4 times and the dealer acted like they don't always come with one. Can I call nissan usa and complain for a new one?

On the air thing, are you sure you don't have it set to defrost? I don't have the manual setup, but I would think that the only time you wouldn't be able to disable the A/C is when it is set to defrost.
For the key fob, yes it should have two. Did they give you all three keys too (Two regular, and one Valet)? I'm assuming this is a used car.

Yeah it is used, of course it looks and smells brand new. The a/c system is manual (of course you guys probably gathered that from it not having leather)I didn't know there was a defrost setting, I will check that. I did get all three keys. One key being oval I assume that is the valet key. But even though it's used I still feel like I should have got my key fobs. Thanks for the quick reply.

Nope fans off, no air blowing. What I mean is when the fan is on the a/c button light is always lit up and I can't turn it off. So I can't run the fan without the a/c compressor being on.
Is there anyway to get the keyfobs?

You need to make sure that the temp selector is not sltd all the way to the left. If you slide it all the way to the left, it kicks on MAX A/C, so slide it a little to the right, and you'll feel it click, and the A/C light will turn off.

Alright, I'll give it a try, thanks. Now if I can just get those damn keyfobs.

If you slide the temp control all the way to the left it will kick on the A/C. Even after you slide the temp control a little to the right the A/C will stay on. You have to punch the A/C button then to turn it off. It comes on automatically, goes off manually. Go figure.

Regarding the automatic A/C, is there anyway to know if the compressor is engaged? I'm not big on using the air conditioner and don't want to engage compressor to decrease power or mileage.
I seem to recall that putting it in the "Econ" mode prevents it from coming on. However, I thinks it exits "Econ" mode anytime I adjust the fan speed control, because the "Econ" light goes out.
