Shocks/Struts....5th gen

Now that i have my Maxspeeds..(which may be up for sale because i want Teins....)..im stuck deciding what shocks/struts i should get...i want BOLT ON, not modified, so that will limit my options a little...after voting, try and give me some prices of the shocks/struts u voted on along with your opinions of them
Thanks!

Tokico's are good for like the first 10K. After that they are crap. Get the KYB GR2's then..

OK guys, WHERE do I get KYB GR-2s. I was in on the GD by Performance Motorsports and have been told that KYB is sold out of RIGHT front struts, and the wait could be as long as 10 WEEKS! This is too long for me. SHOX says that GR-2s for 5th gen aren't out yet, sounds like smoke to me, but I am ready to buy now. Does anyone know where I can get them from that have them in stock for 5th gen? A decent price would be nice too, but right now availability is more important!

AGX/H&R here

maxspeeds suck
I would go with AGX or Koni yellows
AGX would need 4th gen springs

Koni's rears need to be taken off to adjust....

If you wont want adjustables and want to save money
TEIN/GR-2 is your best bet.

Although i think GR-2s are EXTREMELY hard to get right now

What about Tokico's, how do they compare and are they adjustable? I am interested in getting either the GR-2's or Tokico's, I didn't think Koni made any that fit the max without having to modified?

I dont like tokicos, some guys have them and *think* they are good. Better off with the GR-2s, although they are now hard to get since every 5th gen guy on this board wants them!

The tokicos are NOT adjustable, i dont think they make adjustables for the 5th gen. It all depends on what you want. You want to race on the track, get JICs or TEIN coilovers. You want a nice low comfy ride on the street, get TEIN SS springs and GR-2s. Most guys are going this way...

What is the "drop" with the Teins, I was considering the H&R's or maxspeeds, but if the Teins aren't any lower than those, I will probably get them.

the tein drop is IMO the BEST drop and WAY lower than Maxspeeds. Its EVEN all the way around. the eibachs, maxspeeds, H&Rs arent even and some barely look lowered. There are MANY pics of 5th gens lowered an all types of suspension. The search is working, use it and make a decision. The tein drop is 2.2"F and 1,7"R. Look at my sig, my car is on TEINS and GR-2s..

because tokico knows that they'll break later on, so they give the lifttime warrenty because they know that if they start sucking, people wont get them the next time.

with the KYB there is nothing to worry about

get KYB GR-2...that's the way to go with the struts/shcoks

Sorry, but no. The warranty on the GR-2's are lifetime. I have written confirmation that the warranty is valid with my Eibach's also.

Im not sure on the GR-2s, but good luck getting replacements from Tocrapo. My SE-R needed them every other month, and unless there is not a scratch on the shaft, you might get a replacement. I had a buddy that worked for a tocrapo dealer, so he would give me a brand new strut, i would replace ther blown one, and HE would send it out. If i had to do it on my own...forget about it! having to change the struts to get a new one...

No such thing, they do not exist and will not for quite some time. Last I spoke to some1 at KYB they said it showed on the comp that nothing was even in R&D for the nest two years. So even if they do start to develop it, look at a minimum of 3-4yrs wait. I have the Toks, but will switch to the GR-2's shortly. The only AGX's that can be bought for the 5th gen are the modified ones that can be purchased from cattman. Dont know about the warranty on the GR-2's either but ill tell you this much, get the Teins!

I got the AGXs from a guy on ebay, 6 mos. old barely used($300). Had them installed on my 02 by a fellow max enthusiast. Only thing needed changing was the upper strut mount round thing (sorry I don't recall what it's called) that goes under the strut mount housing under the hood and no other mods. I think the thing had to be for a 4th gen. All was installed and work perfectly. If you need more accurate explaination get ahold of Regime here on .org and he will give the details better tham me. I'm just a knewguy.
