My screw-on shift **** (stock) for the 6-speed stick came loose yesterday. Does anyone know how to tighten it up?? It is simply threaded in but I guess the locktite or whatever they use broke free... Should I just put some epoxy on the threads and screw it back in, or is there a trick???

I have the same problem. If I shift hard, it sometimes turns a little.

Thanks for the info, but do you have any suggestions on how to fix the problem?

When I turned mine all the way to make it real (In my best goldmember voice) taut. My shift **** does not point straight.

Well, it kind of depends on your long term goals. If you plan on replacing the **** with somekind of aftermarket one at any time in the future, you may want to try something like manually tightening it.

If you plan on keeping it stock and not worry about it later, shove some epoxy or someother material in there which will allow for you to properly align the know, but harden to hold it in place.

mine came like this from the factory, was turned a little to the right. anwyays, i like it much better this way, feels better ergonomically, and easied to hold the **** too

Used small dab on the thread. Also tighten the 6speed-H-cap and used small dab on there too.

Hey ole buddy....I see you got the max.

Get some Clear Corners.....it really dresses up that color. IMO.

the last 1/4 turn wasn't easy but it will definitely go the extra distance... it should point straight, and now I could get it off if I wanted to. Crazy glue/epoxy is just so... permanent!

LOCTITE! Blue I think is the light duty one, so you can still break it loose someday if you need to; but don't use red, you'll never get it off then.

it depends on which way the shift **** is facing when it starts threading onto the stick.

lets say it is perfectly on center when it starts to thread and when its all tighened its slightly off center(so the top of the shift **** is about 15 dregrees off and facing the glove compartment) just unscnew the **** and try threading it by having the top about 15 degrees off center to the opposite side (facing 15 degrees toward the steering wheel) it might take a few tries but i finally i got my to be perfectly center and as tight as it can possibly get by hand.

its hard to explain but did that make any sense?
