Rsb - Clunk!

Hey all,

I am getting a nice clunking noise when I go over railroad tracks, speed bumps, etc. only on the passenger side. Please check out my photos and let me know if I have the brackets too close to the "curve" in the RSB.

Thanks

Holy crap how can you see anything on those dark pics? Try moving them in a couple inches. They should be 4 to 4.5 inches from the curve.

Took them last night in the dark...had to guess where the brackets were because I couldn't see anything...

Make sure the bar is not like directly under that "U". Mines was like a lil behind it and it was hitting. So I moved it like an inch foward.

Ohh...never thought of that...will look tonight. I don't think I have any room to move it up...I only had about 1/2 inch exposed on the side brackets near the brake lines.

In the center of the RSB in my picture, there is a piece of metal coming down that has a "U" shape...

That "U" shaped thing is part of the rear suspension it's (I believe) the swing arm pivot point for the rear beam. The RSB can't go much more than an inch past the beam axel or when you hit any medium to large bump the RSB will make contact with the that bracket/hinge. What PCGuRu2K means is moving the whole RSB forward till it's under the axle, not moving it up. You need to loosen all the bolts and slide it forward some and you'll be fine.

My RSB used to clunk, and I found out it was just a loose bolt that was holding the RSB on.

It's called the Panhard bar. The RSB should be directly under the multi-beam; assuming it is, move the RSB brackets that are located on the multi-beam (not the trailing arms) toward the center a few inches. That should fix it. Note that the How-To's describe this problem and how to resolve it (with pics).

Yeah, they are exactly 4.5 inches from the "curve" but I believe that the bar needs to be pushed forward. Looking at my pics I see that the U-Bolt kind of tilts to the rear.
