Warped rotors and replacement of all the wear and tear items. I would suggest a 2001 over a 2000 since that year they came out withthe steering wheel audio controls and 17" wheels standard I believe.

i agree with perrymax..go with the 2001. my rotors were worn out after like 20k miles
brakes suck on the stock maxima
everything else with a 5 speed is all good though

Tell him to get a 2K2 for the 3.5 if he can afford it.

Re: Need help on buying a new car.

Go with a 2001 if your buddy is really looking only between '00 and '01. I've had my '01 for almost 64K miles now with hardly any issues. And anyway, the '01s would have incorporated or improved upon any issues that popped up with the '00s.

For the most part, the '00 and '01 are the same. With the '01 you do get the radio controls on the steering wheel along with a slightly different steering wheel airbag cover.

If he is going to look at 2k and 2k1 ONLY...I strongly suggest trying to find an AE. 5 speed VLSD, perforated seats, etc, etc, etc.
