got my custommaxima FSTB - nice!

Got home from work this afternoon and found my long awaited FSTB from custommaxima.com. I have to admit, I was a bit worried as to whether it would fit my '03 SE. I've heard some people having problems fitting them on '03's. So, I slapped it on, took 15 minutes.

Well, it fit like a glove. It looks real cool too - I got the polished chrome. As far as road testing it, I just went around the block a few times. The real test will be tomorrow morning on the BQE on my way to work.

Next: RSB

I just received mine from them today for my '03. Got the same one - polished, it looks awesome! It's so light I can't believe it's aluminum, I thought it was plastic when I opened the box! Can't wait to put it on the weekend!

what's the best FSTB?

I'm interested in getting a FSTB bar does anyone know which one is the best around? There are a lot of really cheap ones out there but i'm wondering why certain bars (stillen) are alot more money compared to some of the others is there a huge performance difference & is it worth the $$$$?

You pay for the look and the name with a FSTB. They all more or less do the same thing.

You're definitely right PCGuRu2K. On my way to work this morning I was able to test ride the car with the FSTB I put on last night. While the front end definitely feels tighter when turning corners and changing lanes, the rear is definitely begging for that RSB. There's just a little bit too much "boat" feel back there. I'm happy with the custommaxima brace. Fit under the hood is flawless, it looks great and I think it does what it's supposed to do. So, I ordered my RSB. Can't wait...

Got my Stillen RSB and installed it yesterday. Drove most of today. Honestly, I don't know how Nissan got away by not including one stock in these cars. The RSB, together with the FSTB make the car feel way more flat on the road. It just sticks to the ground much better. I could never drive this car again without these 2 simple mods. I'm not in a rush to wear out my stock rubber, but I feel those are going next.

Congrats- I bought a chrome one too- at first they sent me the FSTB
with the same exact bracket on both sides- called them up and next day he sent me 2 diff. ones- they must have f@#$ up at assembly line or something- Difference I believe is nite and day- turning is crisper
and and it even minimized some of the torque steer -very satisfied

rstb= rear strut tower bar (in the trunk)

fstb= front strut tower bar (underthe hood)

Hows that. I know all these abr. can be confusing!

I read that the RSTB, the one that goies into the truck, isn't worth getting. Is this true?

yep, its not worth getting,

people said the only difference they noticed was on some really hard turning and people just basicly get it for the looks and the complete package of all the bars they can put on the car

Also, RSTB will get in the way of the pass-thru feature, you know - the fold down rear seats.

Man, I'm really enjoying the FSTB/RSB setup. The car definitely handles with more precision on the road. Now, if only the steering could have had a faster ratio...

I got the Stillen FSTB and RSB and am very happy. The FSTB is beatifully machined and solid. The RSB doesn't use bushings and is about an 1 1/2 inch thick.

is there any other FSTb out there that equals the stillen FSTB, rather than having to pay just for the name. i am not going to show my car at all(otherwise i would go with stillen) i just want good quality for a good price!

Not trying to advertize for them, but the Custommaxima FSTB is a really sturdy piece. Not flimsy at all with the outer edges at 90 degrees running along the whole length of the bar. Looks good and fits perfect.

Take a look at the "Otto Racing" fstb. I saw it all the time on ebay a couple of weeks ago. Same style as Stillen. Looks the same. I think people have said good things about it. Was like $50 or so. I would stay awy from other ebay fstbs though. The ones that are in the price range of $15 - $45 are probably a bad idea.

Was it one of these?(see links below) Did it fit perfectly? Inexpensive is good, but cheap is not. Quality is the key here. If your bar is inexpensive and quality(perfect fit, no modifying, strong, light wieght, etc.) then I say go for it. But, For me looks are also important, even though it is rarely seen by people other than me. I want to smile when I open the hood! So I will probably end up getting the Stillen or more likely thee Otto Racing version. What have others used?

Mine looked like the first one. It has held up fine. I did have a little rubbing on the intake manifold, but I bought 3 3/8" washers for each bolt. So I guess my bar actually cost $26 instead of $24. After that I have no problems whatsoever. I do think the Otto, custommax and stillen are prettier, but I am not convinced that they work better.

I'm probably just stupid or something, but by rsb do you mean rear strut bar or rear sway bar? Which one works better(rsb or rstb)?

Rear sway bar makes a world of difference, rear strut tower bar does not.

I don't really understand how a rsb helps. The rear tires don't turn.

Take a deep breath-and think about what u just said-
the rear wheels obviously dont turn- our rear beam axle loves
to skip around sideways during hard/speedy turns- the anti-sway
bar tightens the rear wheels so that they are tucked/uniform
during these conditions and keeps the rear of the car planted
on the pavement . Mine should be coming any day from Custom max.com
