broken axle boot, get it fixed. It is oil leaking out of it. I have white 18 inch Katana T5 rims on my max. I noticed that my driver side front rim was all covered w/ oil. I got it fixed and oil stopped spurtin out, but it was very hard takin off oil residue all over my white rims. But thats what im guessing your problem is, if thats not the problem, no clue at all.

HURRY.... If you get the boot replaced in time, you may save yourself from having to replace the CV joint. That gets expensive!!!

Have the mechanic inspect the other boot to make sure you don't have another one go on you.

Happens all the time to front wheel drive cars. Rubber boot gets rotted over time, and eventually cracks open. The question is how long will the boot last. My old VW GTI lost the boot after only 2 1/2 years. My Mitsu Eclipse lost it after 9 years. Who knows how long my Maxima boot will last???
