Nissan Technition: "Differential Whine, I need a second opinion" ARGH!

A few weeks ago i posted about some whine that was coming from my car when i kept the throttle depressed just enough to maintain speed. Many said the tranny was Going. Well after a nice vacation to So Cal i got back and got the car to the Dealer. The tech went to drive it, and told me that it sounded to him like differential whine. then he says that he has to call nissan and get another tech to drive it because he is not sure that it is the diff and if it is he has no instructions as to what type of service/replacement is needed because he has never seen this problem before. he handed me the keys and said drive it if you have to its under warranty. bring it in again next week. Only one good thing could come out of this if anything. I might get a HLSD installed if they have to replace it and only have to pay the cost of the part as an option $400. Ill cross that bridge if it comes.

Any suggestions as to what the problem might be are still apprieciated. thanks

I somehow doubt they will let you upgrade trannys because in order for the dealer to get paid by Nissan they have to repair/replace with the same part....Nissan won't reimburse them for a part not originally on your car unless the dealer decides to eat the repair themselves which I doubt...
