I think its a love hate relationship. Its a GREAT car overall. Its just people complain louder than they praise (myself included). Its just been in the shop far too many times for a new car. Plus I made a few mistakes while selecting mine.

I love my Max also. All of us on here a nuts about our cars so we tend to point out every little thing. Not to say that the tranny issues are little, but the other things seem to add up.

Gee, I guess I got lucky too... Had mine for almost 2 months now and haven't had any problems. Hopefully my mods won't change that... By the way, I avoided the tranny problem by getting the manual. He he...

Overall I'm grateful for my max. Especially when walking up to it and getting in or dusting some idiot trying to cut me off. I've just been focusing on the negative. If the improvement is as good as oiprocs said after repairing the tranny then I'll be a much happier camper and maybe I can start posting some nice things on here. I dunno. People might get freaked out if I stop complaining.

Happy to be Maxing

I've never been as happy with any purchase as I've been with my Maxima. I've had a plethora of other cars over the years all with what were highly acclaimed engines. None of them gave me the sheer rush that driving the Maxima provides. My favorite times come as I shift down into 4th gear already going 75 and pull away from some Hopped up Stang or Lexus and can visualize their jaw dropping. Maybe some of us complain because we can't fully come to grips with how good our Maximas really are?

Maybe its because there is soo much that is soo good about the car that the little flaws are very aggrivating.

Sorry for the low blow about the 5sp vs. auto thing.... I couldn't resist becasue I drove both before buying and definitely wanted the manual. Of course, now I have to actually work when driving... hmmmm....

I wanted stick too.. I was just impatient. It seemed like they only had one manual on the lot.. an Altima. Grrrr.

I just want my car to perform like a 29k car.

If it can't help me driving it hard.
Nuts to them.

I'm completely satisfied with mine...
$18,500 for a beautiful, brand new, sport sedan that can run the 0-60mph in just over 6 seconds & the 1/4 mi in 14 seconds stock (quicker than 90% of new cars on the road today), handles well, brakes well, keeps me cool in the summer with that freezing cold A/C, warm in the winter with the killer heat, gives me all the comfort of cruise control, power everything, and of course those GOREGEOUS taillights!
C'mon..whats not to love about that.

PS: Haven't had a single problem with mine...
7,000+ miles and still as tight as the day i bought it.
