cloth seats --> leather seats

I really wanted black leather interior but I had no choice but to settle with what the dealer had. Anyway, I was wondering if it's possible to convert my cloth seats to leather seats? If so, what kind of places offer such service? Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost. Also, do you think it's worth it to get leather? thx.

why'd you settle? 2 dealers have told me that they install leather in cars. that the 04 maxima in teh showroom had leather installed by nissan at their dealership
I assume you could contact them and ask them.

I also found a place by me that does work like that Automat. They repaired my leather seats in my Infiniti M30

Yes, it is possible to convert cloth to leather and many members have taken this route. There is a group deal going on right now for about 520 i believe. this deal is until the end of June, so you dont have much time. If you emial the guy who is heading this GD, he will tell where you can get it installed. It will cost you around 400 for installation.

Yes, it's possible to convert a cloth interior to leather. Like ChrisK327 said, this is standard practice at alot of dealerships. One place that you could check out is www.leatherseats.com. I've heard good things about them and they'll even do a nice 2-tone for you if you like that. I also see them for sale from time to time in the sale section of the org. Installation is another thing. Some people will tell you it's a DIY job but I disagree. There must be places around you that do it, if you can't find any try asking some dealerships who they use to get their leather done. I'm not sure where you're located but I know a good place in the Philly area. I would expect installation to run you several hundred.

Or check out Classic Soft Trim - they've done a couple of cars (including mine) that look good. Note that there are some wear marks in the leather on the driver's side after only 10k miles, but they're replacing the entire seat leather under warranty.

I had mine added as part of the purchase, they tacked on $1,000 to the selling price. I brought it back to the dealer a couple days after I got it, and the next day I picked it up with the leather seats.

It's too bad you didn't get them to put it in, then you could've just financed the cost instead of having to go out-of-pocket.

I got a booklet from Nissan offering Nissan accessories for my Maxima and one of them is leather interior for $1100. I doubt that is the price installed but I may look into it more.

I got leather seats from the $520 group deal that people are talking about. I got custom 2-toned with suede inserts and pretty much every option (cept for seat warmer). It came to $675 after it was all said and done, and me and 2 friends installed it in a weekend. Install is fairly easy and straightforward and I saved myself over $600 by doing it myself

I will be doing it again real soon for my 240sx, as well

new leather smells nice. cloth provides much better lateral friction to keep your butt in place when the lateral Gs build (admittedly not too often given the maxima's straight line vs cornering power). I find Nissan's leather to be "noisy" -- squeaks and makes crinkling noises as weight shifts. I like my grippy, quiet frost cloth very much.

Wazzup fellas! Thanks for all the input...

I had no idea that dealer would do seat upgrades, but like some of you have mentioned it's better to get it done outside for cheaper and also get a customized look.

I originally wanted a black max with black interior, but I had to choose from 5 maximas on the lot. I had no other choice as 03 Max's were flying off the lot (due to crazy promotions they were running to clear their 03 inventory) just about 2 months ago. Anyway, I chose a Majestic blue with frost cloth interior. I have no complaints to leave it as it is as I am not too picky about "cosmetic" features of my car...

I like leather interior, I think it adds "value" to the car and looks neat. I don't have to worry about stains or dust settling deep into my seats... I think leather is easy to clean and over the years it will be time-saving. As far as leather in summer goes, I don't think I have to worry about that considering that I live in Buffalo, NY

About the group deal, is this the one you guys are talking about? The price does seem very fair. If I decide to go with this deal, I was thinking about getting a two tone leather seat with one color matching my majestic blue car... what do you guys think?

You can get the seat from either katskin or leatherseats.com for 600-700ish range and even with MAXIMA written in the rests. The install is 400 no big deal. You will have seats that look better then the OEM leather, feel better and cost less.

I agree with everyone that says that leather seats won't hold you as firm; however, suede does the trick nicely, and IMO, it holds better than even cloth does. So if that is a big concern for people, they should try some suede inserts in their next set of leather seats

the meridian package is spec'd for cloth and leather..basically either way the package was available with either trim...now did dealers stock the meridian with cloth trim, I couldn't tell you...I would believe it to be a rare combo, but was MOST DEFINITELY available....

a person or two on here (can't remember names) has the meridian with cloth....do a search...

IMO, once you have kids, you will appreciate the leather seats.

Much easier to wipe up formula or juice stains. As much as I hate people eating in my car, when you're on a 3-4 hour trip late in the evening, stopping for supper just isnt an option sometimes.

In my opinion there's no other feeling than sliding into your car on your leather seats... especially in the winter time.. (I have remote start and heated leather seats, so they are nice and toasty by the time I leave my house in the morning )

as with everyone elses suggestion, check with your dealer (who knows, maybe you'll like the Maxima inscribed leather they offer) or check out the websites listed...
