I am in the market for the 2001 Maxima. I want the 20th Anniversary Majestic Blue but with no leather, and i was told i'd have to wait about 6 weeks to do that since it's limited and they'd have to order it. But, i could get a regular 2001 SE in grey lustre right now. Do you think it's worth getting the 20th Anniversary? i am getting it because of 2 reasons: i like majestic blue color, and also, i think the resale value of the 20th Anniversary in blue will be higher than a regular SE. am i correct in this assumption? Is it worth me waiting?
Suggestions? Comments? thanks.

not much higher...not the premuim they are

asking. the problem is that those items are cosmetic, no technical wizardery that people cant order as an individual part. to the average customer, it will basically be a blue maxima. I can appreciate enthusiasts that dont mind paying more for alittle more exlusivity, but dont let the dealer take advantage of you on this. I would still negotiate from invoice on these.

Be careful ordering cars. When mine came in, my paint sucked. I didnt want the car really. But I would lose the transporation fee, 3-something. Luckily they were not trying to keep the deposit, most dealers would. In retrospect, I should have let this car go and waited a few more weeks on another, but it was evening and the paint didnt look as bad as it really turned out to be. Nissan has offered to repaint the car, but who wants a repainted car. Just be careful.

price difference

the price difference is about $1500. This is for a blue maxima with different bumper and carbon fiber interior.
Thanks for the advice on ordering.
How is the maintenance on grey lustre though?

Oh but Tim..........

Lets see a 5sp se when dropping the clutch just right can hit 60 in 6.7 seconds.

The SE-Ann. has......drum roll........VSLD..so..some of the power can now go to the other front wheel...not just one. What does this mean?......you can launch harder and get off the line quicker. I'd say that should be worth a couple tenths of the 60 time.

I'd get the se-a so I could get the VSLD. I don't know if ya get it on the auto(like the 3rd gens) but you do on the 5sp

*if* the price diff is only $1500... sure...

no biggie.. and VLSD is worth it. Dealers on are crack right now, asking MSRP+. In that case, it would not be worth it. Btw, you realize that now means that VLSD will be available to all 5th geners (most likely). All that stuff added up would prolly cost more than $1500 for sure. Are you gonna get 1500 more at trade in? who knows.

I'm not knocking the package. I think the SE-A is a great idea. I think the car is great. I just wanted to point out that someone that pays full fare and some change is gonna feel alittle sore at trade in. But the ride would be enjoyable.

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure I read that the VLSD is only on the Canadian model...

don't understand

paint color doesn't affect cars performance.. all cars of diff colors (max) should theoretically operate the same. (not factoring in the human error and the crappy inconsitant molds) but if the question is about the 20th edition and the normal max? i say just cosmetics and a new muffler not worth the mark up. just imo oh all that besides the lsd

Carbon Fiber Dash

As I understand it, the Carbon Fiber Trim in the SE-A edition is *NOT REAL CARBON FIBER*! What does this mean, it means that it is basically a carbon fiber vinyl decal, which is dull and lifeless. Real Carbon Fiber has 3D qualities to it, as the sun hits it, it shimmers and comes alive. The difference in the effect is like night and day. A real CF kit can set you back between $150 - $300 depending where you get it. Each place has slightly different coverage, so check the shadow sheets before you order. My only complaint is that it is harder to find a nice kit for the 5 Speed 2K, because the shifter surround is different that the auto. I had to get a guy to custom make and match a piece for me, because the original company said there was nothing they could do.

Sprung....

Go to : http://www.nissan.news

click on new 2001 products and then maxima.

Looks like maybe both the auto and 5sp SE-A will get VSLD! Am I right in that it would help acceration/racing since you can launch harder with vsld?

...that "bump" in hp with the I30 muffler.
0-60 in 6.5 and 1/4mile in 14.9 seems very doable.

VLSD is definitely on the US versions

It was right on the window sticker, in addition to traction control. TC is only on the auto's however.

If the VLSD/$1500 is the only issue between the SE/SE-A, I think the VLSD may be worth $1500. I only have 300 miles on my 2000 SE 5-speed, in the few times I have been able get on it a little, the left front tire has lit up! VLSD is a big plus, but I suspect the price diff. is a lot more than $1500.00! Regards, David Burnette
