Mid Grade vs. Premium Gas

Does anyone have any opinions about using mid grade gas (89 octane) vs. premium gas (93 octane)? The cost of premium is ridiculous right now.

If your driving steady on the highway, go for the mid-grade. But if your tooling around town, Premium is the way to go.

I don't mind spending a buck fifty more to get the good stuff and not have to worry about the timing being retarded to compensate for lower octane fuel.

Someone in another thread said that Sunoco 94 is really good stuff. Gotta try git me sum o'dat.

I'd miss a meal in order to have my Max use Premium instead of anything less, So there you go!

Btw, On the gas door, there's a sticker that says "Premium recommanded for Maximum Performance" Well, I'm convenced.

Surely you can Use regular unleaded, nothing wrong with that. But don't drive the car hard. Say keep it Under 3000RPM your car will last longer. Ofcourse if you use premium, you don't gotta worry about that. (Needle moving towards the REDLINE, 6000RPM, SHIFT!)

Juts keep in mind if you get the timing advanced you've gotta use Premium though.

For the love of god use the search people. We've discussed this 2 times this week. If you use mid grade gasoline, your timing will be retarded giving you less miles per gallon which in turn takes away all of the savings that you think your getting. Nissan says to use premium unless you absolutely can't.

Thanks for all your help, everyone. I'm going to go for the premium.
Sorry about not looking through the search first. I'm new to the forum and still trying to get used to everything.

VQ= Engine code, such as VQ30DE (4th Gen Maxima, and 2000~2001 5th Gen Maxima), VQ35DE (2002~current Maxima)
