Correct tire size for 02 max when using 18"..yall so friendly.

Looking to buy these lightweight RPM-2 's for my 2k2 6speed-What tire size least copromises the speedometer?

http://www.enkei.com/highperformance/rpm2.htm

Another Question: Since I'm shaving off nearly 6lbs off each
corner in comparison to the stock SE rims, can i keep my stock shocks
in lowering it with an Eibach pro kit?

In other words- will the decrease in weight at the corners make the ride softer or harder?? Need some wizdom people- I wanna run loooww
14's by summers end- holla back

You want the 8" wide 114.3x5 pattern which only comes with a 35mm offset. Put some 245/40/18 rubber on 'em and you'll be fine.

245/40/18 are the closest to the OEM in regards to revs per mile.

The less unsprung weight you have, the softer your ride will be to a certain point. Tire size is obviously going to contribute a great deal to ride quality too. Just my 2 cents!

245/40/18 will be the least compromise to the speedo. I'm currently running these wheels with 245/45 rubber (~3% speedo error). As far as the ride quality, (a) the eibachs will make your ride much stiffer (I know, I used to have them), and (b) decreasing your side wall with the 245/40 tires will also make you ride stiffer.

not to mention the fact that a 40 series will give less absorbsion of bumps/potholes......45 series for 18" tire fills up wheel wells almost completely with a bit of a drop, but also raises the car up an inch or so

I thought on an 8" wide wheel the biggest tire you could fit was a 235/40. On a 8.5 you could got 245/40 or 255/40

Right... I'm stupid because I follow the manufacturer's data sheets. Just cause a bunch of people here do it doesn't mean it's right, or the only way to do it. Take a look at all the people running 235/45/17s on the stock 17x7" rims. Just cause they do it doesn't mean it within spec, or safe. If you were to look at the specs for the tires. You would see that 245/40 will fit on a 8.0" wide rim. I know both from the data sheets and because I've done it sucessfully. I put 245/40/18 Toyo Proxes T1-s on 18x8 rims with a 35mm offset. Works fine. No rubbing either. See, I didn't want a speedo that was off.

So next time before you cop an attitude check your sh|t and stop talking out your @ss.

I have the 235/45's on the 17's It sits just fine and I have no problems taking corners at whatever speed ect... The cops are more of a problem to me but there is a downside to going with the unsuggested tire size on a rim. If I knew this I would not have gotten the 235's, you see if I get a flat or one of the tires somehow turns out defective the company will not warranty the tires, due to the fact im running them on the incorrect width rim. Id does fit w/o any problems but the tire companies are just **** about it for some reason and wont warranty it for 7" the widest the manufacturer suggests is 225, 235 for 8" and 245-255 for 8.5" Larger will fit but the companies wont warranty it, its also gonna depend on what brand it is. One company will say 245's on the 8" is fine and under warranty while the other will give the cold shoulder.

There is nothing idiotic about 92 SE-R 02 SE wanting to run a size that will have his @ss fully covered w/o any worries. Larger will fit just fine but why risk it. Id want to go with 245's but id find a 8.5" rim to slap em on. Just my .02

MannyNJ, like I said I'm running 245/45, the average wheel width for those tires is 8". If you're still confused, go to tirerack.com and review the tire specs, they'll give you a range of wheel widths and an average wheel width for each specific tire size.

Lemme get the straight...

1) You're suggesting that it's ok to run 235/45 on a 7" wide rim which is clearly in violation of all manufacturer's specs, but

2) It's not ok to run a 245/40 on an 8" wide rim which is within the manufacturer's specs?

Good thing we have you here to tell us when tire makers are being too conservative and too liberal with their ratings.

Sterodude: It will work just fine, 18x8 will fit the 245 just fine, its just the companies might be **** about it. It all just a warranty issue.

I understand it may work fine HitManSE. The latter case is covered under warranty because it's within spec. The first one is not because it's not within spec. But Mr. Genius there is telling people that case 1 is ok, but case 2 isn't. When it's the other way around.

245/40s work fine on an 8" wide rim. Go to the Tire Rack website and check the specs out. If you want an 18" tire to go along with your 18x8s, then the 245/40 is the closest you will find in regards to: 1)Diameter, 2)Revolutions per mile, and 3)Weight rating. There are alot of us running 245/40s without any problems.
