What do u guys think 99 manual max (stock) running high 14s
I was just arguing with a body of mine at a club last night, because he claims that he can get his 99 manual stock max to high 14s. I asked the 4th gen guys that same question and they claim that it is possible. I am confused now. My other friend has a 99 manual with every bolt on possible, stage 2 clutch and stripped his max at the track he ran a 14.7, then how in the hel can a stock 995spd run even close to that??

I guess I have to run my buddy's 99 and see if for myself

what, you didn't get the answer you wanted in the 4th gen forum? So now you come to the 5th gen forum and start asking the same questions?

14.9 is possible, but very very hard to do with a stock 4th gen. Ive seen a stock 95 5spd run a 15.1. He has tried many times to get better but could not. Hes used every trick from Icing the intake manifold, removing interior seat and back seat and jack, taking air out of tires, ect... 15.1 is the best he could edge out. .2sec faster is possible but pretty damn hard to accomplish.

You can't really compare a 95 or 96 to a 97-99. Unless the 95/96 has been retrofitted with the 97-99 bumper, it is about 300 lbs lighter.
The 95/96 had serious problems when backing into poles - small impact would go right through the bumper and damage the trunk. They fixed that in 97+.
I would say that if a 99 broke 15s stock, it was an isolated event (i.e. it was in very cold weather, with a great tailwind or at a "quick" track.)
It also, is probably not something that is repeatable. That is, maybe he broke it once but that's not what he can run on a regular basis.

plus most of the guys with the mods you listed that your friend has are running mid to low 14's. daveb, requeim, neal, briguy, luckytobehere, and several others are all running between 14.2-14.6 with bolt on's and street tires. a good driver can hit 14.9 stock in a 99, but its not an everyday thing, but it has happened many a many of times
