I had a car just on the launch with a G35 and powerbraking it.(which is bad for the car) And he never caught up and i ended up with about a car and a half+ up to 70-80mph. i got a half+ in third gear which pulls the hardest on my 5speed auto

No BS here

I also did a roll with him around 10mph and he wasted me like crazy i gave up around 30mph 400+lbs of torque VS. my around 260 lbs of torque....guess whos gonna win....

But on even playin field they are suppost to run the same! its a drivers race!
I believe this story 100%. One time I was merging onto the highway and this big F150 truck was behind me and passes me on the shoulder. I was like WTF hell no, I know I didn't just get abused by a pickup truck. It even had the red-orange flame stickers on it which I thought was a custom job. So I threw it in manumatic and downshifted to 2nd and floored it. Around 80 MPH I caught up to it and pulled about a car length on it and then another half a car as I rode 3rd gear. His engine was really loud and I think he was close to redline in his 3rd gear (they are 4-speed right?). I was amazed it took me that long to pass the truck. I'm sure from a roll he would have destroyed me but I was happy I didn't get totally abused by a pickup truck. Definitely good to watch out for these because under the right conditions (RPM, speed, etc.), they can make even a quick sedan look quite foolish.

The lightning will start to lag around 130range were it ill become harder to breath (its a low rev/high torque motor) on the highway depending on how long the race is from an 85roll the truck will walk at first but get walked at the end. Once again this all depends on how modded the truck is.
The top speed of a stock 6 speed 3.5L Maxima is 145-147...it doesn't have the HP to go faster than that stock. If you have mods, it's geared well enough to go beyond that...

We went down to the track last summer and he ran a 14.6 on his second run. Nice trucks, and alot more cost efficient than the Lightning.

Tell him to replace those plugs with Autolite 3823's. They are one step colder than stock, but do not have the "power tip" which the OE's have.

I noticed a .7mpg increase with them on with 500 mile city driving computer resets. (rest computer, run 500 miles on the old plugs, reset computer, run 500 miles on new plugs).

lol, thanks. I just caught that aswell.

Another thing, the previous setup mentioned was with a 150shot Direct Port with 5.9 fuel rails.

Its good to see other Dodge guys on here (Quicksilver and JJS). I was offered a job at Intense Performance, but couldn't justify the commute. If you guys need anything, I'll try my best to hook you up.

jjs, have you done anything to your truck?

I bored out my throttle body today, and am loving the results. I cant believe people pay $250 and up for it. I'm not done either I just need to get more sanding rolls.

Cool, I'll tell him about it. I keep telling him to save up and buy those Mopar performance heads (maybe 60 rwhp?) and put a blower on that sucka

I drive those things at work a lot. They are really nice and quiet under normal driving, but when you get on the gas the supercharger really sings. They really are torque monsters, but I bet you could have eventually taken him. Maybe a six speed should try

I wouldn't own one of course. Too expensive, and it's still a heavy truck.

you can get a full Powerdyne for $1800, brand new, and the people who sell it even cut out the Ram's head logo on the mounting plate. I was thinking about doing it because they are so cheap (still alot for me but blah blah blah). Mopar Performance Headers will make a nice difference, plus their build quality is pretty dang good. The Mopar Performance PCM is another great modification, it removes the speed limiter, kicks the rev limiter up, tells the AC to turn off at WOT, and all in all gives it alot more power, and it gains more with the more mods you do. Along with all this, to help get more high end, either port the stock "Kegger" intake or buy an Mopar Performance M1 intake manifold. If he does anything with the intake manifold, it would be in his favor to remove the heads and have them gasket matched to the intake manifold, but then one could argue while the heads are off, just throw the full kit and kabang in and go for 2.02/1.6 valves, Roller Rockers, Valve Springs, and then if you've done all that, you might as well put a new cam in. hehehehe.

It's funny, after I posted my ported throttle body pics, a bunch of people asked if I would do theirs. There are some other companys who do it and charge a minimum $250 for a simple deburr or taper reduction.

I'd throw in the MP headers, reworked throttle body, and MP PCM for a cheaper solution with a very noticable improvement, but for more top end, rework that kegger or buy an MP M1 intake. Its all about where he wants the power, and how much he wants to spend.
