moonroof smell..

whats up peeps...I have a funky smell coming from my moonroof after i slide the bottom cover. I wiped the area down thinking it might be a little wet but that didnt do it..anyone know what the heck im talking about...thanks guys
does anyone know where that car wash thread is also..i cant find it now..

its the glue on the sunshade holding the felt on. there was a service message on this at the dealer.

mine is like that...just stale air trapped in there, kind of musty...not a big deal i dont think...

'maxgsxr1' is right... I believe there was a service bulletin on this a while back.

Apparently, when the shade gets hot from the sun (shade closed), then it will heat up the glue and/or plastic and make that shi##y smell.

Kinda messed up when you think about it... The sunroof shade is affected by the sun.

Interesting!! In years of parking outside at work with the shade in various positions I have never had this happen.

You know what...a buddy of mine (silver99 on the org) had the same thing happening with his 4th gen a while back and we never did figure what it was. He thought it started happening after he left the sunroof inclined and it got rained in. The car had kind of a funky electric burning smell to it whenever you would open the sunroof cover. And it got worse when you would open the windows and circulate the air. I think he just sprayed some Fabreez in there and it went away eventually.
