UDP and lighter flywheel

Hi, I have a 5 speed 2000 maxima with an unorthodox underdrive pulley. I am replacing my clutch and I'm going to put in an unorthodox ultra-light flywheel at the same time. I have read that in other cars this combination of underdrive pulley and lighter flywheel is not recommended. Does anybody know if there are any recommendations against this combination for the maxima?

I've read the UR UDP and lightweight flywheel can cause problems with the ECU reading crank position sensor values.

However, if you go with a Fidanza lightweight flywheel, the combination of UDP and Fidanza flywheel isn't as light as the UR flywheel by itself.

For driveability sake, I'd either:
a)Buy a Fidanza flywheel and use the UR UDP
or
b)Sell the UR UDP and put the $$$ towards a UR flywheel

Unfortunately, I've already bought the flywheel and I'm just waiting for it to come in the mail.

Then try BOTH, but if you have any problems just remove the UDP and sell it.

No biggie really.

I spoke to the guys at unorthodox and they told me that they haven't had any problems with the combination of UDP and lighter flywheel.
That reassures me a bit but I guess we'll wait till its all installed.

That unorthodox flywheel is freakin' lighter than hell. Fidanza = 11 lbs. Unorthodox is like 5-7 lbs? IMHO a little light for everyday driving.

I wouldn't trust the maker's reply perse. I haven't had a maker yet actually admit their products had problems in the past. Just make damn sure to compare the oem unit to the unorthodox unit before install. Good luck

Well I had the new clutch and unorthodox flywheel put on and the
car has been transformed into a racing car
So far no problems. I had the parts put on by Jeff at Maximumtuning
in NYC. He did an excellent job which made it worth driving the 7 hours from T.O.!
I'm getting the car dynoed next saturday so we'll see what kind of numbers it gets.

What is it like in stop and go bumper to bumper rush our type traffic? Can you putz around at 2-3 MPH in 1st gear? How about taking off on an uphill grade?

Go with the Fidenza flywheel and UR UDP.. You shouldn't have a problem with this combo since the fidenza is only a lil lighter then stock.

Stop and go traffic is always a pain in the *** but I didn't
have too much trouble getting out of NYC during rush hour. The only one negative thing I've noticed is that the car also revs down a
little quicker now as well Price you pay for being able to
rev quicker
No problems with hills, you've just gotta get used to the clutch.
For the first while I was either spinning out or lurching like crazy but now that I'm used to it no problem.

I'll have the exact weight difference tomorrow when my new scale comes. What you have to remember is that the Unorthodox flywheel uses the stock ring gear. The total weight loss isn't as drastic as everyone thinks and there's probably only 2-3 lbs between the UR flywheel installed and the Fidanza. The Fidanza is cheaper though.
I got a decent price on the UR flywheel and that's why I ended up with that.

Well finally got around to weighing the stock flywheel.
According to my scale which is a half decent one(ie drug scale heh heh)
it weighs around 13 lbs. Remember that's without the stock ring gear or anything just the flywheel itself. I didn't weigh the UR flywheel
but from what I've read between 5-7 lbs. So you're shaving between 6-8 lbs. Maybe it is a drastic drop but well worth it
