2002 Sunroof

I've seen posts on "broken sunroof" in the past. I've been experiencing an intermitten problem with the tilt feature of the sunroof. Sometimes it works flawlessly, other times it stops mid tilt (closing and opening). I've also had one or two problems with the sunroof not opening or closing completely. Pushing the buttons again usually gets it to work, but with the tilt it seems like 3 out of 5 times there is a problem. Is there a TSB out?

Someone on here mentioned pulling the fuse and replacing it. Has this been a good longterm fix?

I've only has one problem with the sunroof since I got the car. It was open and then I tried closing it but it wouldn't. Playing with buttons fixed that. As for the tilt, I can't even tell if it opens full way or half way. That crap hardly opens in the first place.

I used the reset procedure in the manual and all seems to be back to normal. Most important thing to remember I suppose is not to open when sunroof is tilted.

Question:

I contacted the member who suggested pulling the relay. Will pulling the relay and holding the close button accomplish the same thing? I guess I am wondering if one clears recent memory and the other clears all memory (less likely of a return problem).

I hate it....i look at BMW, VW, Audi, it opens a WHOLE lot and every other car, i dont understand Nissan with the idea of only opening that little much for the tilt

you guys think of any way to make it open a little more?
also ,is there anything that can be done to the rear windows of opening only half way? ..its another thing that Nissan scrwed up

Well, two things:

1)The sunroof is on a track that raises up then goes back to the back of the car. Tilt goes halfway down the track to where the the "raise" is. Open follows the rest of the track to the back of the car. The short answer to your first question is no.

2)The rear doors are designed around the wheel well so there is no where else for all of that glass to go.

These are not problems inherent to Nissan, many other cars have them. Putting Nissan in the classification of BMW and Audi is a big step.

putting Nissan with BMW and Audi is a big step. I think Nissan is lazy. Thats why the new maxima is f'n ugly. Look at Honda/acura. They can be compared very nicely with BMW. They new TL for example will be very refined and will be competing strongly against the germans. Think about what 280+ hp will do to the 265 hp maxima. ALso, I heard the new TL will be 4 wheel drive. Nissan made some bad choice, they rush a lot. Honda waits until its time.. and then releases an excellent vehicle. Dont get me wrong, i love my 2k3 maxima, and I am a nissan fan... But with mistakes like not importing the skyline to the US was a loss in their part. And taking more time in designing the 2k4 maxima would have probably made a better result. And over the years, the quality of nissan is going down. But hey, thats me. All this because of a sunroof problem. I heard the 2k4 skyview sunroof has leak problems. hope they atleast bring better competetion, or ill be forced to buy a TL!!!

Sure it is, but who wants to go to the dealer to have them:

A: Unplug and plug are relay
B: Hold the close switch for 1 second

Now, if the engine was falling out or the transmission was leaking I would be dealer bound.
