Pros and cons Mobile 1 syn

Hey guys, i have a question. What are the pros and cons of Mobile 1 synthetic oil and is there a performance difference? If so, what viscosity do you use? Do you recommend a mobile 1 oil filter too? Just wondering because i need to know if its worth changing to a mobile 1 syn oil with a mobile 1 filter. Thanks.

valvoline/castrol
napa or K&N filter

just generally is on sale.

amsoil smells good.

honestly though, its a good oil. some people swear by it, some people swear by amsoil, while others swear by their own brands. The main thing for me is a high quality (ie. non fram) oil filter and changing it every 3000 miles. I normally use 5w30 aswell.

Thanks for the input guys.. I agree with jeff.. castro and valvoline dont make good synthetics... thats what i heard. As for amsoil, never heard of it... What is the difference between the K&N and mobile 1 oil filter? Which is better?

Thanks for the info...

Not very much difference at all. They are both made by Champion labs and both use the same filtering media. The Mobil 1 filters just a tad better, but I'm not sure the price/performance difference is worth it. I personally use Amsoil 0w30 and a Mobil 1 filter.

I don't think they'll be any cons at all other then the fact that it's cost a lot of $$ per oil change

I have an 1988 S10 Blazer that I've been using Mobil 1 in since new, I used the engine oil, transmission oil, gear oil and grease. The truck is approaching 170k miles and doesn't burn a spec of of oil and still runs great. If I look inside the valve cover hole the engine looks like it's new. If you want your vechicle to last forever just use Mobil 1 and change you oils on a regular basis.
