I know it's hot but...

I know it's hot outside 98 and all but on the way home my car lagged something fierce between 2500 rpm till it shifted at 4000 on my auto 2k2. First time I've noticed this. On the way home though I had the car in 3rd doing 85mph for a 10 mile strech. Will this harm the response or is it the heat. What do you guys do in the south or where it's this hot all the time? Is it the heat or tranny? The car pulled hard again after it shifted but it took a little longer to get past the low end band to 4K rpm to respond. I modded myself a Franken style intake but no indicator light has come on indicating a maf problem. If this is normal let me know. I also had a VB mod done so, I've given all the info I can think of. All your help is much appreciated.

yeah...its normal.
I had it happening also to me at those kind of air tempratures. the engine is just so slugish and that's what it does if you stomp on it. i would take it easy with the gas in the low rpms, but after you pass 4k it shouldnt be a problem flooring it.

because of this i want to go back to stock, if i will see a lot of those hot days i will go back to stock cuz its just sucks driving around with almost no low end torque

My opinion is that it is most likely the heat. My old ricer would do the same(5-speed). Today my auto max was not pulling right either.

Thats just my opinion, i have no factual evidence or other opinions to back that up....... Good luck

Temp dropped and guess what!!!

Well just went out and the temp dropped about 10 degrees and the car ran just fine. It is amazing what the heat does to this car. Those who live in those hot climates must suffer alot in the performance area. Thanks for the reply guys.

Well, you can count one here. I think today was the first really hot day around here. The max truly wasnt helping. Hard shifts and hesitations. Sometimes it felt I was getting no power .. until I almost floor it and felt that bump kicked into gear feeling...

No intake on mine, I'm in westchester and drive to the Bronx daily, and for some reason my car was sluggish today.

I would have figured yours also was, being that the temp is always hotter in NYC then it is just north of you here.

A lot of heat will do that, plus if it's humid out (like it basically is all the time in NJ) that hurts performance even more. That's why people don't go to the track when it's hot/humid.

Heat kills

Well it's good to know that heat is a major problem with this car or any for that fact. You live and learn.
