When I joined up on this forum a while back I kept reading about the crappy paint on the maxes. But I of course wouldn't be affected by that because that only happens to other people. YEAH RIGHT! Paint is peeling big time from the driverside sidemarker. Ok, I guess I kinda knew that this was an issue but after 7k miles?!?
I'm thinking of driving the f***ing thing of a cliff! Now I have to deal with the dealership and more than likely have to listen to their stories of how this just isn't possible bla bla. Sorry for spewing venom but I'm just pi**ed. Any suggestions if I get the runaround from the dealer?

Don't sweat it. Just show it to the dealer, if there are no obvious damage that caused tha piant to fall off, then they will fix it.

The paint problem is normally from rock chips and stuff, I haven't seen heard of any Max's where the paint peeled off
Maybe it was damaged at the dealership or factory and they did a crappy repaint on that part of it or something?
It'll be covered by warranty I'm sure... unless you forgot to tell us that you washed the car using a pressure washer and held it an inch from the paint!
oh yah...

same thing happened to my Golf GTi back in the day... driver side front fender began peeling just below the side marker. I found out that the car had been damaged on the lot and had been sent out for a "quick fix". What really upset me was seeing shiny black paint under the peeling paint--they just sprayed right over the old paint, no sanding, no priming, nothing. Of course it peeled off! What do you see under where the paint has peeled?

I would check for prior damage...new car paint shouldn't peel...although bear in mind, legally if the car had a "lot-wreck", the dealer does not need to disclose this info unless it's a certain amount of damage..
you might have to bite the bullet on this one...

The color under the paint is black on mine as well, however, I think the bumper is black unpainted anyway. I'm taking the car to the dealer today to show them my custom black on white paintjob. With any luck they'll give me the finger and then it will be bodykit timeOriginally posted by jay beede
