I personally don't care for the new 350Z. I think its just "OK". I kind of think Nissan took a good thing and F#@%#@ it up. Only my opinion though. I like the 90-96 body style much better. Not to mention the 350z sure ain't no Twin Turbo. The 350z is too futuristic looking where as the 90-96 300zx was shaped more like a real sports car, like a bullet as are ferrari and porsche. You'll never see these types of automobiles change their body style to the "moon car" look any time soon. Just again "Only my opinion"
might not be twin turbo but puts out more torque and almost the same power w beter gas milage and faster......i love the 96 z too....and it took alot of getting used to but i love it now.....my only thing is where are the ttops....how can you have a zcar without ttops?

So it got be a true sport car hehehehe.
The 350Z is no way faster than a 90-96 Twin Turbo. I raced 4 350z so far and not to seem like a jerk, but smoked all 4. Also to add HP to the 350Z there is not much you can do. When i first bought my 300zx TT i bough a jim wolf ecu, air intake and HKS exhuast for $1,400. I got dynoed at almost 400hp it was sick. To do that with a 350z it will cost some "big bucks." Many people may say who cares, i don't need to hook it up, but like any car, you get use to the HP and want more.
Am I the only one who has clicked on the original poster's homepage??!?!?!?!? WTF!!!?!?!? First, he has a photoshopped picture of a Maxima that isn't even his. Then he writes...

I hope you are being sarcastic. If you aren't....GET A FUKING LIFE.

dude you ate up 4 zcars because you got a modded twin turbo....400 hp verses 287....im talking stock versus stock....and stock versuses stock the 350 is a faster car.....and you should look around there is a ****t load of after matket for the 350..... how about some cams, longer rods and 2 sets of pistons 8.5to1 and 11.5to1 how about turbos s/c's and 25 differant exhausts....how about intakes....and computer work from jim wolf.....theres plenty of stuff out for the 350....as a matter of fact it is one of the only cars that i can think of that had aftermarket stuff avail before the car was...i love the old tt300 but 350z is faster stock and mods are just as easy to do as on the 300
i would like to check out your car sometime...im a big fan of the tt cars

Second, I never said that picture is my max. everyone on this board knows that's a photoshopped pic. of the new bodykit coming out by custommaxima. I just think it is a cool pic to put on there, do u have a problem with that?? The part about what i wrote, is that your business?? I will write whatever the F!@# i want. what is your f@!@ problem minding what I choose to put on my page?? I can't believe you actually posted somethign like this. When I raced those 350Z I only had the exhuast and air intake done. Not the chip. Car is too fast with the chip and the back would want to slide out everytime i punched in 1st or 2nd gear. But my neighbor raced a white 350z in his stock 300zx TT and said he beat him by 2 car lengths. Didn't smoke him but put a hurting on him. And the point i was trying to make about the upgrades is, how much cheaper it would be with the 90-96 to get HP. For a 90-96 300zx to get 400HP is about $1400-$1700. For a 350Z to get 400HP it is going to cost you big bucks... I know you can do stupid **** like change the cams and pistons, but then you void the warranty. I meant more of a bolt on/plug and play upgrade. If you look at the jim wolf site the computer upgrade for a 300zx TT gives you 60 HP. How HP does it give you for the 350Z? I am willing to bet it isn't no 60 HP. That was the point i was trying to make.

I bougth it about 2 months ago brand new with 280 miles on the odometer for $23,300. I thought it was a good deal considering it is fully loaded including navigation system, the only thing missing is the limited slip option. I wanted a 6spd. because all I have read about it here on this forums for years, but to be honest, I am a bit dissaponted with how bad the shifting is, and if I could sell it without lossing too much on it, I definately look at getting a g35c.Originally posted by PimpShiFus

yea you got a point there....but you think you would beat those same 350's if they had an intake and exhaust like you?not stiring the pot honestly just asking a question....there are alot of cheaper upgrades for your car right now...give the after market time to slow down on the new zcar and prices will shortly follow......as far as puter work not sure how muck on the new z....my guess would be 35 to 40 though....but 700 mor rpm between shifts would really get the most out of that 35 to 40......like i said before i like the 96 body style better but if the new on had ttops im not sure how i would feel....

its kind funny how you do it....the stronger the credit the bigger advance i can get for 1.....i mean if you want retail for yours then i would sell mine retail to sum it up......they can show you 25 as a trade value even though acv is 19 or so....then sell the car retail..... to balance everything out sell you an ext waranty and maintanance agreement then the loss the dealer takes on the front end he makes on the back end.....its called a cut and roll.....from a salesmans standpoint it sucks because the salesman only gets paid on the front end of the deal (dif between what the dealer pays ie invoice and what the car is sold for) since its sold for a loss the salesman makes 100 bucks and spent all day to make that little bit...but it gets the car off the lot and gets the salesman a unit towards bonus levels.......
understand?
if i need to clear it up or explain it alittle better let me know

I had my Black 98 SE 5 Spd, Black/Black, every possible factory option plus I hooked it up to my taste with HID/2K1 17's/Front+Rear Clears. In other words I was very happy with it. I had it for a year, put on 15K miles, it had 79.3K, depreciating quickly. I was able to unload it for $600 more than what I paid for it a year back so I had to take it. I moved on to my GS4 and was happy with it for a bit, still happy with the exterior/interior/neck snapping straight line accel but some other things make me unhappy. One of which was lack of a real manual tranny so when the G35/350Z came out, I was also bitten with the bug.
First I test drove the G35 Sedan on two seperate occasions. Liked the way it drove, handled, performed but styling was just BLAND, car is just not flashy one bit and I also didnt like the interior. Also lack of manual tranny at the time.
Then I drove the 350Z 6 Speed, first the Track and then the Touring(Electric Blue, loaded including Navi). Loved it, was kind of shocked, kind of expected it to be faster. The offered me a trade of what I paid for the GS, TOP cost for me was $9K to get me into a 350Z touring 6 Speed with every option except Nav. I was really considering it but thought about how bad not having a back seat would be, also how horrible it would be driving it in the winter. As time went on I just sort of lost my taste for it. Apparently I'm not the only one, many lots around my house have barely used Z's with 700 miles sitting on the lot from people who made the quick decision and later realized its not for them.
Then the G35C became more main stream. It was just impossible to locate a 6 Speed version that wasnt already sold so I had to settle for a drive in the Auto. First off, head room was just horrible for me at 6'3 in one equipped with a moonroof. It was White/Black Leather which happens to be my favorite combo but really still the interior was nothing impressive, in other words it cant compare to the simplicity and perfection of a 3 Series Coupe interior IMO. It handled nice, had my GF who is 5'3 105 lbs in the back with no problem but thats really the size of a person that the back seat is made for. I hated how ricey it sounded with the auto, as every time it would down shift, this little growl that Infinity put in would buzz. What I can say is it would probably be enjoyable in the 6 Spd but with the auto it was getting old quickly. Came back in and he offered me either a Black/Black or White/Ivory 6 speed coming in 6 weeks at MSRP and ofcourse I declined after thinking about it for a bit.
I basically decided that the formula I've been using works. I like to buy my cars at around 2-3 years old, private party only, seek out great deals, pay for it in full and I'm usually able to sell it up to a year later with at least 10K+ miles for what I paid for it back then. I realize some people might need to have some of that money tied up elsewhere so maybe its not for everyone.
One important thing is the stellar reliability or most Nissan products. I dont know how Lexus got such a great rep, their product is simply inferior in terms of reliability. This is what makes me want to drop the GS for what I paid and pick up a 2K2 6 Spd loaded which is now going for... $15,000!!! at Manheim, NADE, Newburgh and other dealer only auctions around my area. Sorry for the length, felt like sharing.

1. What I claim off this forum is my business. If I want to say I got mods, i will. I think i have that much freedom. I dont need you telling me what i should or shouldnt put on my page. Do you see me criticiz the **** you say around here??
2. I already said I never claimed that pic is my car or I made that pic! If anything I am doing some advertising for the new bodykit.
3. How is it that I make maxima owners look like ricers when i say i got turbo charger, and nitrous?? those are performance mods, not rice mods. Why dont u think before you type. and why dont u just apologize for going off on me like that.

As much as I hate to concede anything to a Nissan salesperson
, I stand corrected tonylittell. I thought the G35C had a slightly different front setup. I can't seem to find anything to the contrary.

It is only useful if you wreck your car, which somewhat promotes insurance fraud.Originally posted by PimpShiFus

I'm kinda in a similar boat. I have a 2K2 GXE and I like it a lot, but it ain't no Z. The Z is quite an attention getter from what I gathered in the April Motortrend long term review comments (and # of people on my350z.com forums have had similar experiences). Getting chicks --> priceless.
The prob is the depreciation hit I'd take even if I were to sell it private party SUCKS! It's worth somewhere between $16-18K private party.
To top it off, I do sometimes need a car w/more seats and cargo room than a Z. At the same time, I don't like the G35 coupe styling as much and don't think it's nearly the chick/attention magnet.
Also, having only one Infiniti dealer within a 180 mile radious sucks.
Doesn't give me much bargaining power.
I can afford both but it just seems so wasteful esp. since I live within walking distance of work.

sure.. the G/Z is a chick magnet. But its also a cop and hater magnet.. And while not that frequent, the worst are hater-cops who give tickets just to mess with you. I take that back, the *worst* is trying to find places you wont get keyed or egged. With the Maxima, you get a very fast car with alot of soul for a sedan, yet blends in fairly well.
My paranoia is 4X with the G. Ironically, the G may be very fast but I really couldnt tell you how fast. I have the undivided attention of every law enforcement officer in a 3 county area. I havent done more than 5-10 over any speed limit. You really cant get away with it in a Z/G like the max.

Remind me to never move to Arkansas. Are nice cars not very prevalent around there? Out here, nice cars are a dime a dozen.Originally posted by TimW

I too worry about my Max or a Z (if I get one) being keyed.
Some people are just such *******s.
At my apartment complex, the guy that used to park next to me, got his/her Accord [probably 01 or 02] keyed VERY badly, along the entire left side, the entire right, and I think the trunk too. Since I don't know them, I didn't ask them what the scoop was on that.
Where work and near where I live too, there are lots of nice cars around... so much so you'd think BMWs and Audis are commonplace.

actually Little Rock and AR in general is fairly safe for the G.. Most of the people having problems are CA, TX, NY/NJ (see g35driver or FA). In fact, trips to the Hamptons seem to be fairly perilious for a G. Punk rich kids are scarier than poor bored kids any day in my book. Originally posted by asu174
