cv joints and hub bearings :(
pretty sure i need new ones of both CV and hub bearings...
at low speeds i get a grumbling noise thing. mostly when i come to a stop. and when i turn theres a clicking sound.
anyways, im pretty sure thats what i need, i have a 2k1 SE with 62k miles on it. is this average breakdown time?
and umm now that i am almost sure they are going, anyone know where i can find new ones, relativly cheap.

They shouldn't have gone this early in life.... Get a shop light, and look at the CV joints. Check for tears in the boot. It could just be dry somehow and just need some grease. This should help you out, CV Joints (explains how to take apart too) is under "Driveline".

k what about hub bearings?
are those normal to go around now?
there was oil/grease in the inside of my rim which i think leaked from the cv joint but i didnt see any on the boot or any rips in it so im not sure

2 things... i know the hub bearings are all the way inside so i dont even know how i would inspect those...
#2 the if the cv boot leaked the grease out then they need to be replaced correct? u cant just put grease back in cuz then if they arent greased and they heat up they get damaged. that is my understand anyways...
but now my main question is parts, where can i get them for cheap

it definetly sounds like a CV joint. When you stop and make a turn, does it click? if so, its the CV joint. Can you determine which side it is? The CV boot doesn't have to be torn to tell you that the CV Joint is bad.
Also, for the hub and bearing, that occurs at moving speed (say about 20-40mph).. do you hear a clicking sound when you go around a turn? Then thats the hub and bearing. with 62K miles, it shouldn't go, but considering its a moving part and wear/tear on the car, it could going. I agree with some of the people on here that the hub would last the life of the car, but I did replace one on my commuter car (1986 Grand am) a few years ago.

just thought i'd update you guys...
took everything apart and the hub spindle was loose and i looked closer, it was so loose it was making the cv joints antilock sensors rub against the inside of the hub which was causing the noise and vibration i heard
im going to goto the dealer tomorrow and get a new hubspindle and bearings.... and hopefully my CV joint is not broke, the boot looked clean and no cracks or leaks but there was still oil on the tire
