4 speed or 5 speed?

Do I have a 4 speed auto or a 5 speed auto? How do I tell? I have a 2k3 auto SE sheer silver that I bought in April. I performed a search on this but came up with no answers. Thanks.

you have a crappy 4-speed auto. Nice color by the way.

Thanks, I think. Did they make 5 speed autos in 03? How do you know if you have one? Are they much faster than a 4 speed?

Nissan makes 5spd auto only for the 6th gen 2004 on up. I belive they still use the 4spd auto and do still offer the 6spd. The 5spd should be a bit faster then the 4 speed. The 4spd auto is pretty good off the line all the way through 2nd gear but 3rd is too long, the 5spd should provide the same rapid acceleration of 1 and 2 but it will last for 3 gears instead. Should be pretty much on par with the manual, maybe .1-.2 slower in the 1/4 mile ET at the very most but still has not been proven.

Thanks for the info Hitman. I wish I would have read this site before I bought, I feel like I should have gotten a six speed.

Hell I wish I got a manual period, I have a 01 auto. The 3.5 auto atleast has a good set on it, its no slouch. You should still be able to pull hi-mid 14's should you choose to drag. With slicks your very well capable of hitting 13's. I have almost all bolt-ons and finally said screw it after a 15.5 run, looked for a new 6spd but nada. The 6-spd is pretty hard to find these days, especially an 03. The 6th gen is just not my taste so that is not an option either Oh well.
